All table were filled .... some older Italian gentlemen actively speaking their native tongue about some indepth topic of the day. It was a part of the... More

I have been coming here since I was a kid, I find their coffee extremely strong (but good), and i love their breakfast croissants!!! I don't know which bakery they get them from, but their almond one is melt in your mouth.

Went there while visiting the little Italy; it have the reputation of having the best coffee in town; and it is deserved for sure. Charming staff, very authentic, you don't go there for the decoration obviously, but for the "overall" charm that the place have. Stop there for sure if you like coffee, its mandatory ;)

Just got back from a business trip to Italy, keep coming back for a great cappuccino at Caffe Italia. I can say it's as good if not better than many coffee shops in Milan or Florence. We have coffee here at least once a day when in Montreal. It is unpretentious, the coffee is prepared to our specifications and the other patrons are always very friendly. We are 'amateurs de café', have tried the other highly recommended cafés in the area, but always come back here.

This cafe had been recommended in our guide book and it was definitely worth a visit. The coffee was great and the salami sandwich and panettone were both outstanding. Combine this stop with a visit to the Jean Talon market

The most authentic Italian cafe in Montreal, period! Best coffee, best staff, best clientele, best sandwiches. Most frequently spoken language is Italian so don't plan on too much eavesdropping.

A very popular and crowded place. We sat on the bar and watch the barista to prepare espresso based drinks. Caffe latte and cappucino is their popular coffee.Their espresso blend is strong like in Italy. Definitely not a third wave coffee shop, but rather like a real Italian coffee bar.

Staying in Rosemont-La Petite-Patrie

Neighbourhood Profile
Rosemont-La Petite-Patrie
Rosemont-La Petite-Patrie has one of Canada's most prominent Italian communities, with Little Italy concentrated along the convivial bends of Saint-Lawrence Boulevard. Known for its fantastic bars and authentic Italian fare, the domain includes the Jean-Talon Market, the largest public market in North America. Open year-round, sunny months see fruit and vegetable stalls set up outside the main chalet, while blustery weather draws crowds indoors to meat and cheese sellers, spices and truffles stalls, and for regional delicacies such as rare Charlevoix lamb. While the market dictates what's fresh for local restaurateurs, visitors can please more than their palates, taking in the Renaissance architecture and frescos of Madonna della Difesa, the picturesque Rue Saint-Rominique with its cheerful homes and splendid gardens, or the ornamented thoroughfare of Plaza Saint-Hubert.
