Take recommendations from the staff.. but ask for a menu too. We went in looking for a few glasses of wine as other commenters said we could taste great and unique varieties. Server who treated us was amazing and offered us free samples until we found a bottle we liked. Wow! (It only took two try's thought). All the other... More

I came here one night for an office event. The decor was nice, the band was awesome. My only complaint about this place was the service. Our waiter served us the high end alcohol without advising nor asking which was a shame as not everyone enjoys the strong taste of Hendrick's gin which basically went to waste. He also got... More

My partner and I stumbled upon this place in the rain while looking for someplace to eat and have a drink after arriving late in Montreal on a Friday night. We were seated at the bar as there were no other tables about to sit down at. We had a great meal, it was farily quick for how busy it... More

Sat upstairs. Need a strong core if you are seated on a hassock. Low and no back. Service is painfully slow. Waiters do not seem to have assigned tables. Food however is very good. The shrimp tacos were special as was the hummus and yougurt . House white was weak and tasteless. Good food but that's about it.

Right off the bat, Santos has one of the best, cheapest burgers in Montréal. For $9, you can't beat their Santos burger. Add $1 oysters to that, and they have some pretty fantastic dining. Also, they have a great selection of live music That being said, the atmosphere is eclectic and a bit out-of place, the service is a bit... More

This place was one of my worst dining experiences. The service sucked. It took 2 hours (give or take) for my friends and I to get our drinks and food. The drinks were watered down, and the food was terrible (beef was overcooked, and the fries and bread were soggy). We were a big group and one of my friends... More

My review for Santos is going to be limited as my date and I only went for a couple drinks and an appetizer. It is a very unique atmosphere. Behind the bar they have white shelving which gave it a cool vibe. The rest of the restaurant was a very upbeat place with a sort of feel that it was... More

Stopped in for a drink and got a seat at the bar. The gentlemen who made our drinks put the most effort I've ever seen a bartender put into a drink. I got the Mojito and it was phenomenal! Live music and good drinks! Would highly recommend if looking for a good drink and good vibe. Cannot write about the... More

If I can use 2 words to describe this place, it is "Not Impressed". I was not impressed by the service- for example the barmaid who, although not particularly busy, when I asked what kind of red wine she had by the glass, pointed to the menu and told me "page 3". And left to go chat up another server.... More

My friend and I visited Santos this past weekend, and had a blast. Not only was the service exceptional the food and atmosphere were also great. We shared some tapas style dishes and enjoyed some of their house cocktails. We had a blast and hope to return soon!

Staying in Vieux-Montreal (Old Montreal)

Neighbourhood Profile
Vieux-Montreal (Old Montreal)
The historic centre of Montreal, Vieux-Port is home to some of the city's most antiquated buildings and picturesque streets. Along the waters of the St. Lawrence River, the bank of Old Port features museums, festivals, food stalls, and outdoor athletics, a celebrated part of the city that explodes into fireworks displays on warm summer nights. At its centre, street performers and artists compete with sprawling restaurant terraces for space along Jacques-Cartier Square, while the cobbled streets of Rue St. Paul and Rue Notre-Dame offer a reprieve of quiet galleries and atmospheric wine bars. Horse-drawn carriages are not an uncommon part of traffic, and the narrows they traverse are lined with boutiques, crêperies, and poutine shops enshrined in buildings of stone and wooden lattices. Here you can evoke Montreal's past with a traditional cooking lesson or historical tour, then enjoy its artistic present with live music and theatre.
