Whether it's breakfast, lunch, dinner....or a few drinks with friends.....this is a great spot to eat. The atmosphere is cozy and quaint...lots of stone and wood. The food is fabulous and the staff is very friendly and accomodating.

The atmosphere and the Gaspar house beer get 4 stars, but the food and service are nothing remarkable. My husband and I had the cheeseburger and ribs and both were just ok. Service is slow. We had to get up from our table both times we visited to get our bills and settle our tabs after waiting more than 15... More

This bar-restaurant has great decor and an inviting vibe. Service was friendly/attentive/overall excellent. The mussels were plentiful and tasty. The beet-veggie burger was one of the best house-made veggie burgers I have had. Nice selection of beer and wine. Has street seating with a view of the water available as well. Highly recommended.

The hostesses don't respect the line. Since I believe nobody is better than others, this is not the right place for me. If you are okay to be begging for a table, this is the right place.

This place is in our hotel so very convenient. With that said, this place was fantastic. We split an omelet (dechevre) and perfect amount of food. Everything was so fresh. The service was a little slow but the waitstaff was all friendly and helpful. Would eat her again...yum

I had the "house beer" and the beetroot carpaccio, and we had a few other starters. Great ambiance, maybe a little loud, but comfortable. Our waitress Marielle was so sweet and helpful!

Excellent brunch selections. Food was fantastic. Service was excellent. I asked for Duck Confit on the Gaspar souffle and it was graciously accommodated. Fantastic food.

This beautiful spot is a great place to stop in for drink or snack while touring Old Montreal. Close to the water, this restaurant has great ambience, friendly staff and good food. We were there for lunch and my husband and I shared the spiced olive bowl and chips with onion dip--both delicious. I then had the French onion soup... More

Later on a Sunday decided to try the in house Tavern at our Hotel, glad we did! Wait staff very helpful ad friendly, helped us navigate food, beer and wine. Selections were excellent, advice was precise. Poutine was wonderful, as was onion soup. Grilled cheese with duck confit was fantastic, overall a wonderful first taste of Montreal!

Description
Every night, drinks flow generously as our kitchen serves up fresh, pub-style cooking. The menu: soulful staples, original cocktails and friendly service in a classic tavern setting.
The space, originally a 19th-century warehouse, preserves much of its old-school furnishings but with a few novel kicks. And come summer, we welcome the warm weather with our big terrace on rue de la Commune.

Staying in Vieux-Montreal (Old Montreal)

Neighbourhood Profile
Vieux-Montreal (Old Montreal)
The historic centre of Montreal, Vieux-Port is home to some of the city's most antiquated buildings and picturesque streets. Along the waters of the St. Lawrence River, the bank of Old Port features museums, festivals, food stalls, and outdoor athletics, a celebrated part of the city that explodes into fireworks displays on warm summer nights. At its centre, street performers and artists compete with sprawling restaurant terraces for space along Jacques-Cartier Square, while the cobbled streets of Rue St. Paul and Rue Notre-Dame offer a reprieve of quiet galleries and atmospheric wine bars. Horse-drawn carriages are not an uncommon part of traffic, and the narrows they traverse are lined with boutiques, crêperies, and poutine shops enshrined in buildings of stone and wooden lattices. Here you can evoke Montreal's past with a traditional cooking lesson or historical tour, then enjoy its artistic present with live music and theatre.
