This very tiny low-ceilinged place seems to attract students (there's a large campus in the area). That's great for some. But when they noisily congregate here, forget about any notion of a pleasant meal. The din is downright deafening. As for the service, it's earnest enough but appears to be easily overwhelmed. The food itself is satisfactory but not really... More

Best Lebanese place in downtown Montreal. Forget all the shawarma joints and try the different cold and hot mezza (appetizers) at this place, you won't regret it. Closest thing to what you eat in Beirut and with reasonable prices.

The food was outstanding with generous portions. The hummus was excellent. We ordered for carryout and sat in the restaurant to wait for our food & the staff still provided us with a pitcher of water and refused the offer of a tip.

We are fans of Lebanese food and were looking for a place to eat in Montreal one night, when I remembered having heard good things about this place. It was all true! This is a tiny basement restaurant with tables inside, and outside at street level. It was a hot evening so we sat outside. Everything looked so good that... More

We waited over an hour for our food and we should've left long before that. We assumed that as every table around us got their food that ours would be coming out soon. But that wasn't the case. Not only did we have to flag down the wait staff several times to ask where was our food, they never bothered... More

We came across Garage Beirut almost by accident on a walk and came back with family for dinner. Awesome Lebanese food-finely cooked grilled meats, the hummus is a must order and the desserts were great. Great service and it was a good place to try out Lebanese wine. Would definitely recommend and we will be back next time we are... More

We loved the garlic potatoes and the chicken. The garlic sauce that came with the potatoes was divine. The chicken was tender, juicy, and beautifully seasoned. The babaghanoush was good. And the side salad was very tasty - tangy with some sumac. However, everything else we ordered was disheartening. The labaneh, at 8 dollars, was the worst we've ever tasted.... More

Great Lebanese food that is great to share among friends. The terrace is wonderful in summer and the service is very friendly.

It's a small little place. Went as a couple and we sat so close to the next couple we were touching elbows due to limited seating. The garlic potatoes are a must. They will give you a bag of bread so make sure you order extra dip. We ordered the mixed plate (chicken and beef) it was great. Server was... More

Staying in Centre-Ville (Downtown)

Neighbourhood Profile
Centre-Ville (Downtown)
Montreal's towering skyline is concentrated in the Downtown area, its nexus of commerce and commercialism. A suffusion of luxury hotels, flagship stores, high-end restaurants, and corporate headquarters characterize the neighborhood, which by nightfall transforms from a business district into a youth-culture hotspot, with hip bars, clubs, and restaurants heavily peopled by students and young professionals. The once-seat of millionaire's 'Golden Square Mile', an incongruity of stately mansions and dapper brownstones sit between glass skyscrapers, creating a visually lush urban landscape. Beneath the sidewalks lay the Underground City, the world's largest below-ground mall, a labyrinth of over 1,500 shops and eateries that echo the profusion of cafes, gallerias, cinemas, and fashion outlets above. From the scholarly array at McGill University to the carousing crowds of Rue Crescent, visit Downtown to shop by day for what you'll wear there by night.
