Sometimes, service makes the difference. The service here was very good and welcoming. The breakfast sandwiches were fine but not outstanding, but we had a better time having breakfast here because we were greeted and treated like a friend.

I live in old Montréal and have take away breakfast every day. Out of all the breakfast cafées in Old Montreal, Espace was definitely the best and I go there every day. The quality of both coffee and breakfast options is very good. You have to try the Helsinki bread! It is not (yet) on the menu, so you'll have... More

We are sitting here as we write this, our second lunch at Espace after only four days in Montreal. Excellent food, very nice, warm staff. We made a point to come back after our first meal. Delicious soup, bagels, wraps, cappuccino. Ignore the (few) negative reviews by some ignoramuses. This place is a gem!

If you are looking for a local joint where people know your name and remember how you like your coffee .... don't think twice! Maybe it's cause I'm originally from NYC..This is the kinda place where they go out of their way to make it how you like it!

The mocha latte is to die for, made with his own chocolate mixture. The croissants and breakfast sandwiches are equally as wonderful. Thanks!

Small little cafe with great quality. Right down the street from Notre Dame tucked into a small street. Way better than the chain Starbucks a bit up the road. Very fresh and strong coffee, reasonable prices, and great panini. The staff was very polite and helpful. Great place for a quick pick me up lunch that won't break the bank.

I walked in with my brothers to try their food. We happened to walk in with coffee cups from somewhere else. Before we could sit down, we got screamed at for bringing outside coffee. "You cannot bring outside coffee in here!" In fact, we were going to sit and order food from them. Lesson learned - DO NOT GO TO... More

The policy of our cafe is to give the best possible coffee and service to our customers period! I am sorry you feel the way you do and are going out of your way to defame our cafe, creating a new user profile on several sites just to give a bad name to a business. You and your company walk... Stopped in here for their breakfast sandwich special 3 days in a row while we were in town. Great value for a quick breakfast and an excellent mocha. Owner is very friendly. The sesame bagels are made locally and super tasty!

If you are into coffee stop by this place, which is close to the Cathedral. The owner was there when I stopped in and we talked about his coffee for a bit. He has his own blend and the coffee is roasted for him offsite. I had an iced coffee. The coffee flavor has heavy but not at all bitter,... More

We stopped here for lunch during a busy and hot day of sightseeing. Had chicken club sandwiches on toasted ciabatta which were super fresh and tasty. Good value for money.

Staying in Vieux-Montreal (Old Montreal)

Neighbourhood Profile
Vieux-Montreal (Old Montreal)
The historic centre of Montreal, Vieux-Port is home to some of the city's most antiquated buildings and picturesque streets. Along the waters of the St. Lawrence River, the bank of Old Port features museums, festivals, food stalls, and outdoor athletics, a celebrated part of the city that explodes into fireworks displays on warm summer nights. At its centre, street performers and artists compete with sprawling restaurant terraces for space along Jacques-Cartier Square, while the cobbled streets of Rue St. Paul and Rue Notre-Dame offer a reprieve of quiet galleries and atmospheric wine bars. Horse-drawn carriages are not an uncommon part of traffic, and the narrows they traverse are lined with boutiques, crêperies, and poutine shops enshrined in buildings of stone and wooden lattices. Here you can evoke Montreal's past with a traditional cooking lesson or historical tour, then enjoy its artistic present with live music and theatre.
