We went yesterday afternoon for lunch. It was purely by chance that we tried it. We had the meat and cheese fondue for 2 and the house wine. Fantastic !! The service was great and the food was delish. Very small cramped place but it's part of the charm. Very rustic interior. We liked it so much yesterday at lunch... More

Stopped in for lunch after finding the place I intended to go was closed for the winter. Every aspect of the meal, from the welcome, to the charcuterie, to the service, to the napoleon slice I took back to the hotel, to the chocolate brownie I just finished now back at home were outstanding. The food was sublime. I could... More

We stopped here for lunch. The place was full as we arrived at the end of a big rush. The food here is only part of the whole experience. It's not fine dinning, but it is good food. The tables are close together which was fine with us as we got to meet some nice people while we were there.... More

We were able to sneak away for a few hours for a walk around the Old Port and city and enjoyed a late lunch here. Food and atmosphere was amazing! Great fondue and raclette for sharing and good salads and sandwiches too. Great music playing and everyone was really friendly.

Had a quick lunch, the staff was very friendly and helpful explaining the food choices. Got the Fondue with fois gras. Very tasty, a ton of different meats, minor complaint was could of had a bit more cheese. A must to stop for lunch or dinner, they also serve breakfast I think.

We originally were going to go to Olive et Gourmando across the street but there was a line so we came to Marche de la Villette and we're so glad we did! There were eight of us and we had a fantastic lunch of charcuterie, homemade pates, wonderful bread, onion soup, crepe, cheeses and wine. Can't say enough good about... More

What a charming French charcuterie. My wife and I popped in for a mid afternoon snack of escargot and French onion soup which were simply delicious. The place was packed and the service was auspiciously French. Truly a delightful way to start our Montreal weekend getaway!

My kids and I stopped by for a mid-morning snack where we had an excellent cheese board, hot chocolate and coffee. It was good, but the options, even within the meat section are limited. It is worth visiting just for the old world atmosphere.

Very appealing ambience in a busy, bustling French cafe kind of way. The tables are crammed in and the service is a little off-hand (maybe that was more the language barrier) and slow. That said we enjoyed it enough to come back twice. Lots of great sandwiches, cheese & meat platters and our final meal in the city - a... More

The food here is decent, but beware, mostly meat, cheese and carb! The guy behind the counter was really douchy when i asked if they can put the game on. He could have nicely said no instead of being rude about it. The service was curt and unappealing. All in all, really no need to visit this place, it's expensive... More

Staying in Vieux-Montreal (Old Montreal)

Neighbourhood Profile
Vieux-Montreal (Old Montreal)
The historic centre of Montreal, Vieux-Port is home to some of the city's most antiquated buildings and picturesque streets. Along the waters of the St. Lawrence River, the bank of Old Port features museums, festivals, food stalls, and outdoor athletics, a celebrated part of the city that explodes into fireworks displays on warm summer nights. At its centre, street performers and artists compete with sprawling restaurant terraces for space along Jacques-Cartier Square, while the cobbled streets of Rue St. Paul and Rue Notre-Dame offer a reprieve of quiet galleries and atmospheric wine bars. Horse-drawn carriages are not an uncommon part of traffic, and the narrows they traverse are lined with boutiques, crêperies, and poutine shops enshrined in buildings of stone and wooden lattices. Here you can evoke Montreal's past with a traditional cooking lesson or historical tour, then enjoy its artistic present with live music and theatre.
