My family and i had a wonderful christmas meal at Le Grille. Atmosphere - upscale but in a very rustic and comfortable way. I loved the creative decor. Service - top notch. Our server Felix was attentive and friendly, and even took time to teach us a few french phrases. Wine and Beer - very good and reasonably priced. Food... More

The food is a joke. It's like a 10 year old prepared it. I had to eat hot dogs right after this place to calm down. And the worst part, it wasn't cheap. I got suckered real bad here. And the inside decor was okay, but the inside terrace had awkwardly placed tables and chairs. Do no go there. It's... More

We were walking by and the woman who later became our waitress ran out to the street to invite us in.. We should have kept walking! Rude waitstaff. They weren't very polite when serving, and when someone went downstairs to ask a question, the waiters and kitchen staff were swearing at each other Very bad food - I had a... More

The restaurant is in such a good location and the courtyard looks very tempting. However, when my husband and I went to eat, we were basically the only ones there. The food was below average and the service was quite poor. Obviously we left a tip worthy of the poor service and were actually blasted by the waiter telling us... More

This place is simply awful. We were looking for a place for a nice bite to eat on New Years Eve, before going to the spend the later part of the evening at the outdoor celebrations in the Old Town square. It being last-minute on New Years Eve, everywhere was packed, so we were having trouble finding a restaurant with... More

I went there with my boyfriend for a Steak Tartare (it's the only reason we went there). We picked that with a duck appetizer (him) and a lobster bisk (me). First thing we learned : There is no Tartare tonight ! Decided to have duck breast (me) and a chateaubriand steak (him) instead. The waiter said it was a good... More

I, like others before me, wished that I had checked trip advisor becoming dining here. The restaurant is slightly cheaper that others along the street but the food and service was poor at best. They got our drink orders wrong (not a huge deal as they rectified it pretty quickly) but what they did to my husband's steak with roquefort... More

We did try this restaurant after reading the menu outside and looking at the "quaint" looking courtyard (which turned out to be not quaint at all...)... We first had to chase a waiter to get a table (we later noticed all through our meal that people kept coming in and kept being ignored...And kept leaving after being ignored too long... More

This restuarent was awful! I am a montrealer and could tell from the fact that on a friday night a waiter was waiting outside to lure people in but we were with friends and tired of walking. Also, there was a handmade "special" sign on the outdoor menu. The bread was small rubbery, dry bits which only tasted edible with... More

Absolute worst dining experience I have ever had in any city I have visited. Despite appearances (e.g. outdoor patio) and the initial cordiality of the servers, our entire night plummeted drastically. We were lured by a seemingly pleasant server, but his attitude changed dramatically as soon as we were seated. We cancelled one of our entrees, but decided to at... More

Staying in Vieux-Montreal (Old Montreal)

Neighbourhood Profile
Vieux-Montreal (Old Montreal)
The historic centre of Montreal, Vieux-Port is home to some of the city's most antiquated buildings and picturesque streets. Along the waters of the St. Lawrence River, the bank of Old Port features museums, festivals, food stalls, and outdoor athletics, a celebrated part of the city that explodes into fireworks displays on warm summer nights. At its centre, street performers and artists compete with sprawling restaurant terraces for space along Jacques-Cartier Square, while the cobbled streets of Rue St. Paul and Rue Notre-Dame offer a reprieve of quiet galleries and atmospheric wine bars. Horse-drawn carriages are not an uncommon part of traffic, and the narrows they traverse are lined with boutiques, crêperies, and poutine shops enshrined in buildings of stone and wooden lattices. Here you can evoke Montreal's past with a traditional cooking lesson or historical tour, then enjoy its artistic present with live music and theatre.
