We stumbled upon this nearly hidden gem while strolling around as tourists and it turned out to be one of the unexpected highlights of our three days in Montreal. We didn't have a meal here -- what we did have was a wonderful hour or so of sipping coffee while munching on sinfully delicious pastries and watching the variety of... More

I enjoyed my homemade granola and yogurt very much. If you want a large breakfast menu, this isn't the place. It's a cute little place in a great section of town. I can't rate the lunch since I didn't eat it, but the menu has some pretty standard sandwiches. I don't feel Olive is a must see place to eat,... More

Although it was packed with people we were seated quickly. I had the breakfast panini and she had the soup and a garden salad. The outstanding panini was enough for two. The soup was fabulous. Will definitely go there again if we return to Montreal.

We dined at many places while in Montreal for another GP weekend. We had brunch here before we went to the spa. The wait was not long, in a very crowded spot. Testament to how good the food/coffee is. The service could have been better. I had the smoked trout cold sandwich--highly recommended. In fact everyone at my table ate... More

What a fabulous place. Best coffee, croissant and sandwiches in Old Montreal. But there several outstanding places around. If you wNt a great atmosphere, this is the place

I recommend this place in the Old City. The sandwhiches, soups and coffee are great. Expect a line-up.

Excellent as usual. Always fresh ingredients, excellent service and food value. Wine is overpriced for the amount you get, should either lower price or give customer a bit more. Consistent.

I ventured here on our first morning in Montreal. The coffee was great! After deliberating for 5 minutes, I finally settled on a cherry brioche and almond croissant. I don't think I had better in Montreal. I took my friend back on Monday morning, but they were closed- a good lesson for out of towners!

My wife and I recently ate at this cafe for lunch. The food was incredible. I had the best cuban sandwich of my life and the soup of the day was wonderful. The service was great and atmosphere charming and fun. I would highly recommend this restaurant.

ill keep this short and sweet....we went here because of the crazy high ratings from TA...it was good - the menu was a bit too small and they didnt offer everything on the menu so we opted for a few of their bakery items....(we were there for lunch). Some of the items were good...others just ok. I had a mocha... More

Staying in Vieux-Montreal (Old Montreal)

Neighbourhood Profile
Vieux-Montreal (Old Montreal)
The historic centre of Montreal, Vieux-Port is home to some of the city's most antiquated buildings and picturesque streets. Along the waters of the St. Lawrence River, the bank of Old Port features museums, festivals, food stalls, and outdoor athletics, a celebrated part of the city that explodes into fireworks displays on warm summer nights. At its centre, street performers and artists compete with sprawling restaurant terraces for space along Jacques-Cartier Square, while the cobbled streets of Rue St. Paul and Rue Notre-Dame offer a reprieve of quiet galleries and atmospheric wine bars. Horse-drawn carriages are not an uncommon part of traffic, and the narrows they traverse are lined with boutiques, crêperies, and poutine shops enshrined in buildings of stone and wooden lattices. Here you can evoke Montreal's past with a traditional cooking lesson or historical tour, then enjoy its artistic present with live music and theatre.
