Great staff, always friendly and accommodating. Patio is great after 3:00 when the sun swings around. great views of the street from an upstairs table by the window. Hearty pub fare.

The Churchmouse and Firkin is a great neighbourhood pub that we have been frequenting for the past 10 years or since it opened. The head chef it wonderful and always ready to accept any kind of criticism whether positive or negative. We once mentioned how we would prefer his chicken curry and he changed his recipe to accommodate us and... More

Always keen to try new things, I started off with a pint of local brew Muskoka Detour, IPA: full-bodied and flavourful. The French onion soup was ideally hot and rich, if just a tad crunchy (all a matter of taste!). For a change, I ordered a turkey burger as the main, which came with a side of fries and--now becoming... More

Took some friends from out of town here as I was looking for a crowd-pleasing menu. Standard fare of drinks, appetizers and mains, same as all other Firkin pubs in Toronto. Saturday afternoon here was pretty busy and a bit loud but nothing unexpected for a pub on a main street. Servers were attentive and food was great!

I had chicken on a bun with sweet potato fries. The chicken wasn't very good, it was chicken thigh and tasted horrible. I expected chicken breast but it seems they are cutting corners on food. My Cesar drink was good however I don't think I'll return because of their food.

We enjoyed our meal here. Service was fast and friendly. Food was hot and fresh. The menu is not extensive but appealing to most tastes. Our party had a burger and fries, curry and a pesto chicken sandwich and fries. Our server was warm and friendly. Pints were 5 dollars. They do have daily specials as well. The decor is... More

Like all firkin pubs the beer is cold and the food is good, exactly as advertised. The spicy chorizo mac and cheese didn't disappoint, fair amount of spice, lots of cheese, delish! Well done Church Mouse, well done.

Staying in Downtown

Neighbourhood Profile
At the heart of Toronto, Downtown is the destination for cheap eats and fast fashion. Cut through by hip and trendy Yonge Street, the vibe here is young, with a strong student influence from the Ryerson University Campus. As a result, the Downtown area is always in flux: undergoing the construction of new facilities, with fresh retail spaces and pop-up cafes. Home to Toronto's largest indoor shopping mall, a number of vintage cinemas, and a healthy nightlife centered on the area's Distillery District bar and clubs near the East End, it's both an easygoing daytime spot and a popular party place after sunset. It also features some of Toronto's best outdoor landmarks, including Yonge-Dundas Square and the Nathan Phillips Square: perfect for a concert, a skate, or a relaxing sit-down.
