A very small neighbourhood café with consistently excellent food; servings quite large so share a salad & share a quiche -- then you have rom for dessert!

The best croissants and raisin Danish anywhere. Also had a roast beef sandwich on the freshest and tastiest baguette which was amazing. I visit often and always great. Also excellent coffees.

Divine French artistry: spectacular hand rolled croissants, pain au chocolat, baguettes, homemade jams, etc. I could go on and on... Worth the trip, worth the money, Bravo!

Wonderful service; wonderful coffee au lait (plus café, moins lait), wonderful croissants. Service might be a little slow but wonderful can't be rushed.

I love this place. They have the best French pastries in Toronto. Service is a hit or miss. We went for breakfast this past weekend and our waitress was wonderful and food was excellent. Highly recommended!

I've spent several months in France hunting down good croissants and other tasty treats, and Pain Perdu is up there with the best of them. Seating is limited during the busy times, but I'm usually grabbing something to go. Gateau Basque is not my kind of thing, but it's so good I have it once in a while instead of... More

Pain Perdu is NOT as much about Paris as it is about France, in particular the Basque region. If you are looking for chi chi French food, go somewhere else. If you are looking for croque monsieur sandwich this is your spot. If you are looking for the best quiche stop looking and go to Pain Perdu. The menu is... More

Two of us dropped by early afternoon and enjoyed their special of the day, the roast beef sandwich. Served on a baguette, with some mayo and horseradish, it was excellent. This is a small place with limited seating. Best to stay away from the front door area as that can get quite chilly. Otherwise a charming place.

The place is so cosy and the food is excellent. You must try the cordon bleu and most importantly the Tournedos. Even their starters are so delicious, specially the Mille feulle au somon fume and a kind of salad with mango. This is a great eat experience, especially if you like French Cuisine.

Pain Perdu is a fabulous patisserie not far from downtown Toronto. They have a large selection of pastries and lunch items. It's a little pricey but most French cafes in the city are. They have recently expanded their seating int he cafe, allowing for more tables. Before that, you would be lucky to get a table on a weekend morning... More

Staying in York-Crosstown

Neighbourhood Profile
York-Crosstown is a sleepy area of Toronto dotted gorgeously with hills and farmland, stately homes and parks. An affluent district in parts, the stately houses at Baby Point along Jane Street are especially breathtaking, and make for a lovely wander on a clear day. Parks are bountiful in York-Crosstown, which makes it a vibrant area for outdoor play and sports, providing a break from the hustle of Toronto's busy, jam-packed city center. For a little spice after a walk in the park, the Little Jamaica area of York sports cheap, authentic food from the Caribbean. This area is restful and more orientated towards outdoor activity and the exploration of nature.
