We made reservations 2 and a half weeks earlier for this place because we wanted to experience winterlicious for the first time, and we liked the reviews. We made an early reservation, at 5:30 because we were seeing an afternoon show nearby. We got there right on time and entered a mostly empty restaurant. There were only 2 other tables... More

Winterlicious event. WOW. Amazing food and service. Roasted Capon Breast with peri peri was delicious! My friends ordered a second helping of dessert - Creme Caramel :-)

The menu prices and food quality at this restaurant were amazing and top-notch. Our server, however, did not match that same quality. He was rude to the other wait staff, literally SNATCHING the receipts (for our credit card transactions) out of one wait staff member's hands (even though that staff member simply just wanted to clear the table), said something... An excellent Portuguese restaurant that is one of the best restaurants in the city. Pros: - Wonderful food. The grilled squid was the best I have had anywhere in the world, including some fine seafood restaurants in Spain and Italy. My partner's saffron seafood risotto likewise was exceptional. We started with grilled octopus and pork belly bacon that tipped us... More

I have been to loads of restaurants in Toronto, and Adega is truly the best when all things that make a good restaurant are considered. Food is consistently delicious - I would strongly recommend the Portuguese Cataplana or the Striploin. Wine list is extensive and the waiters are clearly well educated and informed on the selection unlike many other restaurants... More

Stopped for a drink before dinner and had to wait 10 minutes to order and 15 minutes waiting for the bill. Very unprofessional.

Great experience. Friendly welcome. Bread and olives on the table, an amuse bouche of octopus salad. Started with Calde verde and shrimp bisque and then we split an appetizer platter Petisco which included prosciutto, chourico, grilled deboned sardines, amazing grilled squid, Portuguese cheese , and delicious house made gravlax. House wine was a tasty and reasonably priced Portuguese white. Finished... More

A group of 5 friends who have not seen each other years and not all been in the same place together in over a decade had a great time breaking bread at Adega. I had the prix fixe which started with a squash soup of the day that was perfect and followed up with grilled squid. The squid was cooked... More

Nothing bad to say about our experience here! Great, friendly service, food was really high quality, wine was great. Perfect meal on a Saturday night in Toronto! Definitely worth a visit!

Staying in Downtown

Neighbourhood Profile
Downtown
At the heart of Toronto, Downtown is the destination for cheap eats and fast fashion. Cut through by hip and trendy Yonge Street, the vibe here is young, with a strong student influence from the Ryerson University Campus. As a result, the Downtown area is always in flux: undergoing the construction of new facilities, with fresh retail spaces and pop-up cafes. Home to Toronto's largest indoor shopping mall, a number of vintage cinemas, and a healthy nightlife centered on the area's Distillery District bar and clubs near the East End, it's both an easygoing daytime spot and a popular party place after sunset. It also features some of Toronto's best outdoor landmarks, including Yonge-Dundas Square and the Nathan Phillips Square: perfect for a concert, a skate, or a relaxing sit-down.
