Went here for dinner and we loved he oysters and shrimp appetizers. Also the pickerel dish was outstanding. Ribeye was just ok. Cool atmosphere. Would go back for the fish for sure.

Came here on the basis of other reviews and glad I'd made a reservation beforehand as it was quite busy when I arrived just after 8pm. Place had a pleasant buzz about it and everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves. It was a Tuesday and quite a few people seemed to have ordered the Tuesday special offer which looked amazing.... A group of us were meeting here to get together. I really didn't know what to expect. We got there early but were seated as soon as the table was cleared. We had a nice room at the back with another group of people. But we were able to talk as some were from out of town and some we... More

As the name suggests, oysters are the star here and they have a lot of different varieties to choose. The rest of the menu is equally high quality and the atmosphere is on the low key relaxing side. Perfect way to wind down a day of sightseeing.

Went for dinner without a reservation, had to sit at the bar. It is a small place and I would recommend dinner reservations as it is quite popular with the after-work crowd. The service was generally surly and not very helpful with the oyster menu. If ordering oysters you need to order soon after being seated since there was only... More

Pearl Diver is one our favourite local restaurants. Just a nice neighborhood place with an appealing atmosphere, friendly service a good seafood. One of our favourites is their terrific Zink and Drink special, daily 12-6 except Saturday. A dozen oysters for $18 plus some drink specials. We often have an order each, and then a couple of small plates to... More

The attitudes and personalities of their crew was really good! They were so kind and accommodating which made me feel at home. For the quality of food, I can say it's average; not good but not bad either. Beers are good though!

The food here is amazing and so was the service . There were 4 of us and everyone of us thoroughly enjoyed our meals . I had the trout which I can still taste the subtle layers of flavor were beyond description . Went back on the last day but there was an hour wait so could not stay but... More

I have taken friends there for dinner and Oysters and they loved it. I highly recommend the seafood tower, burger and fries, and their Bloody Mary (Canadian Caesar). Very Cozy. it is good place to go on a date or invite small group of friends.

I am an amateur foodie and my girlfriend ran a successful restaurant in Boston. Granted, we are discerning. Pearl Diver got good reviews and we decided to check it out. I was fascinated that they had Lake Pickerel on the menu and I ordered it. Also interesting was their choice to import an ocean panfish served whole. Not paying attention,... More

Staying in Downtown

Neighbourhood Profile
Downtown
At the heart of Toronto, Downtown is the destination for cheap eats and fast fashion. Cut through by hip and trendy Yonge Street, the vibe here is young, with a strong student influence from the Ryerson University Campus. As a result, the Downtown area is always in flux: undergoing the construction of new facilities, with fresh retail spaces and pop-up cafes. Home to Toronto's largest indoor shopping mall, a number of vintage cinemas, and a healthy nightlife centered on the area's Distillery District bar and clubs near the East End, it's both an easygoing daytime spot and a popular party place after sunset. It also features some of Toronto's best outdoor landmarks, including Yonge-Dundas Square and the Nathan Phillips Square: perfect for a concert, a skate, or a relaxing sit-down.
