This place as you walk in looks very beautiful, the decor, the details on the walls and ceilings, the juxtaposition of modern and antique in one place, the high ceilings, the private rooms.. these are all pros! Overall the experience was great and we had a good server. A few things that keep it from being 5-stars on my list... More

I held a business panel discussion at Rosewater for the financial services industry recently in their upstairs private event room. The event planner was very helpful and so was the staff. The room is a grand looking, large room. We had it set up for a panel discussion with auditorium seating for 150 people and still had room at the... More

Came here during winterlicious and it was divine. It's in the middle of nowhere on Ontario street, about a 5-10 minute walk from city hall. Once we came, we were served right away at the front of the restaurant. Because of its popularity, there were no seats in the dining room. The problem with that was at the time my... More

We booked this restaurant weeks before we flew to Toronto. It was one of the top 5 in town, and bookings were hard to come by because of the film festival. We had a great meal, only downside being the Australian lass at the next table who was trying too hard to impress a film director. Scallops, tuna tartare, jumbo... More

Had the cheese board for appetizer, very good and large portion for 2 people. My main dish was beet risotto, asparagus, and fish, overall was pretty average. There were very few people in the restaurant at dinner on a Friday night which might say something.

Not a great experience. The fact that the restaurant had only one other table than ours for Friday night dinner spoke volumes. The elderly hostess didn't make eye contact or speak a word to us. Just grabbed 2 menus and began walking to our table. We were unsure if we were to even follow? Our server was wonderful but we... More

Tried the Salmon and shrimp appetizer which tasted like frozen seafood. Would go for the peach salad instead which contains a ham which i think is prosciutto. The peach salad tasted good. The sea bass main course was good, but nothing extraordinary at this type of restaurant. I would choose it again. The dessert of chocolate trifle martini is okay,... More

Convention dinner here and it felt as if you were in a "Mafia-type" restaurant of old. Beautiful decor, fixtures, etc. The food was good as were the drinks.

We had a group dinner at the Rosewater. The setting was definitely upscale. We had a list of a few menu options at our tables. The servers took our orders very efficiently. Somehow, the kitchen fell behind and the space between servings was way too long. People got up and walked around while the servers leaned on the walls and... More

Staying in Downtown

Neighbourhood Profile
Downtown
At the heart of Toronto, Downtown is the destination for cheap eats and fast fashion. Cut through by hip and trendy Yonge Street, the vibe here is young, with a strong student influence from the Ryerson University Campus. As a result, the Downtown area is always in flux: undergoing the construction of new facilities, with fresh retail spaces and pop-up cafes. Home to Toronto's largest indoor shopping mall, a number of vintage cinemas, and a healthy nightlife centered on the area's Distillery District bar and clubs near the East End, it's both an easygoing daytime spot and a popular party place after sunset. It also features some of Toronto's best outdoor landmarks, including Yonge-Dundas Square and the Nathan Phillips Square: perfect for a concert, a skate, or a relaxing sit-down.
