My daughter took me to Rodney's for my 75th birthday. They had a private function in 1/2 the restaurant so we had to sit at the bar while many of the reserved tables were empty the whole hour & a half we were there. We were seated directly in front of the oyster shucker. He asked if we would like... More

The food was very nice and the oysters were great. We also had mussels which were very good. We went at lunchtime and it was bit quiet. It's probably best to go in the evening.

We had no reservation and being Monday night it was quite empty and we got seated right away. I had 4 different oysters and they were amazing, so fresh and yummy! The main courses as far as fresh fish goes were good but not very big, so good thing we had an appetiser first. Overall it might be considered a... More

Recently visited for a birthday gathering (table of 10) on a Saturday. Made reservations and did not have to wait for a table. The restaurant was pretty full, but not packed like some other downtown restaurants. I ordered a variety of oysters and mussels, both were very fresh and delicious. I have been to Rodneys once before this time with... More

We stopped here after dinner to grab a drink and a dozen oysters. I didn't have the cooked food so not sure how good that is. As you would expect, they have a good selection of fresh oysters shucked right in front of you. They've been around for a long time and still remain one of the best places for... More

Only after our late night visit do I understand the difference between buck-a-shuck and truly divine oysters. We asked for 18 east coast large - back came a platter with ones as large as my palm! Truly amazing and fresh! Sat at the bar - great atmosphere and a lot of fun. Made Oyster Boy seem reserved and stale. Will... More

What a great seafood experience once again. Try mixed seafood combo and especially the large selection of oysters. Reserve at least 2 weeks in advance.

Great selection of delicious oysters - fresh and tasty. Waitstaff and bartenders were friendly and helpful and had plenty of info about the oysters and everything else on the menu. Glad someone at our hotel recommended Rodney's while we were in town on business.

Staying in Downtown West

Neighbourhood Profile
Downtown West
Downtown West is home to Toronto's gorgeous Inner Harbor, and is a must-visit for lovers of art and the outdoors. The area's rich cultural heritage is celebrated by a number of monuments and museums, giving the neighborhood a mature feel. As a premier destination for modern art, people here stroll through the cool contemporary pieces at the Power Plant, enjoy the outdoor installations along Queen's Quay and Canoe Landing, and picnic among the zany designs of the Toronto Music Garden. The waterfront itself is often suffused with bikers and joggers, and the harbor is always packed with classic ships with masts raised. The vintage boats and ferries to the Toronto Islands make for a charming contrast against Downtown West's backdrop of skyscrapers, condos, and food trucks serving up hot, fresh fare to locals on the go. The area has a peaceful energy, and is popular with tourists and Torontonians alike.
