Fell in love with this place way back when they were on Queen St. Great food great service and the warm friendly ambiance remain. The only thing we miss is the bread baskets hanging from the ceiling. Free parking in the back. We'll be back over and over again :)

Because by doing so it will be more difficult to visit than it is already. It is one of my favourite haunts in the City. I love Fr. Cuisine and the food is very good and does not cost an arm and a leg. Fantastic Wine List ! Just visit the washrooms and you will see how extensive it is.... More

Service was attentive. Menu is good. French onion soup is the best I've ever had. Must have had a full stick of cheese on top of the soup. Good atmosphere.

We came to Le Select Bistro after having a "meh" dinner elsewhere. When we arrived the place was super busy, but the hostess was great at trying to find a table for us. We ended up sitting at the bar, since we were just doing coffee and dessert. The bar staff were friendly and were able to help with recommendations... More

Went there for a lunch with 2 clients. When I walked in, I was behind a patron waiting to be seated. The Host (husband owner?) was speaking with him all the while, show no acknowledgement of my present. When he came back from showing the previous patron his table, he made no eye contact or acknowledgment for a good minutes.... More

They have a large wine selection that includes some fairly affordable bottles under $50. The menu has many interesting selections. I started with the crispy sow ear salad and had the deer (very rare) for my main and finished with the cheese plate. Food was great, service was good. We will return.

This is one of our favorite places for traditional French food: from the basic steak frites to choucroute garnie or cassoulet, they have it all and very well done, along with an extensive wine list, great decor and nice service.

The food is expensive for the quality. The steak was not very appetizing and the fries were soggy. I was not impressed at all. The service wasn't great either we were forgotten for a while. I would not recommend this place.

I booked a late lunch/early dinner so the restaurant was practically empty. Decor is lovely in a classic French bistro sense. I kept it simple with onion soup to start and cassoulet as my meal. The soup was delicious with the broth rich in flavor. The croq was filled with more bread than onions so I would have preferred a... More

Staying in Downtown West

Neighbourhood Profile
Downtown West
Downtown West is home to Toronto's gorgeous Inner Harbor, and is a must-visit for lovers of art and the outdoors. The area's rich cultural heritage is celebrated by a number of monuments and museums, giving the neighborhood a mature feel. As a premier destination for modern art, people here stroll through the cool contemporary pieces at the Power Plant, enjoy the outdoor installations along Queen's Quay and Canoe Landing, and picnic among the zany designs of the Toronto Music Garden. The waterfront itself is often suffused with bikers and joggers, and the harbor is always packed with classic ships with masts raised. The vintage boats and ferries to the Toronto Islands make for a charming contrast against Downtown West's backdrop of skyscrapers, condos, and food trucks serving up hot, fresh fare to locals on the go. The area has a peaceful energy, and is popular with tourists and Torontonians alike.
