Run by the same guys who own the butcher's across the street. Great atmosphere. Always packed, but you feel like you're experiencing the City. Staff fun and friendly. Eaten here many times, for many occasions. I always have the ribs and matchstick fries.

Everything was exactly as one would expect a special night out to be. The atmosphere was intimate and yet inviting, the menu was varied and everything we ordered was delicious. The service was wonderful, just enough attention to make us feel special and left us alone enough to enjoy our special evening. We will definitely be back, again.

We were 2 couples and we all enjoyed the personable service and the amazing food all at neighborhood level of pricing. Seems like an unknown local secret.

The meal was amazing. I had salad, portobello mushrooms, steak and tried the lamb chops! All of them were great. The service was great. The bread and oil and vinegar was excellent and they also followed any preferences (dressing on side) that we had and i loved it. The gentleman with the hoodie who seated us was sweet and funny.... My friends in Toronto love to come here so this is my third time dining here. It is a very popular restaurant so I suggest you get a reservation. They have a good wine list and food menu....great pastas and meat and veggie dishes...I had the spaghetti with a rose sauce and it was lovely. The potato and parsnip soup... More

Nice intimate restaurant for interesting modern cuisine. The menu choices are quite varied and the specials were all very tempting, so it took us a little while to finally decide. My friend and I both shared the appetizer special, a fresh and delicate avocado-based bruschetta topped with Parmesan shavings. We both opted for the Italian pan-seared whitefish special, with roasted... More

This restaurant was busy but no line up. The hostess was very welcoming and was able to find us a table for four fairly quickly as most tables are reserved ahead of time. Our server was great. She often checked in on us to see if we were ok. She was very pleasant. I wish I had remembered her name!!... More

My husband and I were looking for a nice place to celebrate our 31st anniversary. We had gone past Five Doors many times but had not tried it previously. It was a great experience with inventive food that combined different flavours. I enjoyed the pumpkin seed encrusted salmon and my husband enjoyed the skirt steak. I loved the brussels sprouts... Always passed by this restaurant with the 5 doors and wondered how the food will be. I finally got to try it and was very pleasantly surprised! There is a patio and just far back enough from Yonge Street that you're not inhaling car fumes. Food was delish - I highly recommend the quail which is an appetizer portion, but... More

Our son (7 yo) had seen a tv show on this restaurant and wanted to go there. I explained this to the restaurant when we made the reservations and we were treated like VIPs while he was invited to a tour of the kitchen, met with the owner and even got to serve us! He was definitely not their typical... More

Staying in Midtown

Neighbourhood Profile
Midtown
Midtown is a dynamic part of Toronto with some of its most stylish high-rise residences and heritage buildings. The area sees busy shoppers with bag-laden arms balancing lattes in paper cups as they travel from one luxury brand to the next, taking advantage of the proximity of high-end shops. The reflecting pools, jogging trails, and nature treks of the Rosehill Revision are always a hub of outdoor activity, and after a workout from either running or splurging, many take advantage of the spas and massage parlors Midtown has to offer. Away from the bakeries, boutiques, and glamorous old theaters of the district's center, locals use the weekend to embrace the more suburban feel of Midtown's parks, tennis courts, outdoor markets, and the manicured grounds of Casa Loma, while families indulge the area's state-of-the-art playground and learning facilities. Of course, no high-brow district is complete without a healthy counter-culture: Midtown boasts some of the wildest street art and full-wall graffiti of any neighborhood in Toronto.
