Server Eric gave unbelievable service never wanted for anything all night. They were full and short 1 staff yet still made it happen. Prices well below Toronto average has to be the best value in the city. Would recommend to any of my friends.

I visit often. I've always received friendly and fast service. The staff here make me feel like family. I have been to the Duke with larger groups, a few friends, and just by my self and each visit has been wonderful. I also have suggested this pub to many hearing nothing but great things back from them all. I love... More

The service was fine the staff disposition good . The food was average at best , the beer is difficult to get wrong but the venue seemed tired to me very dark where we sat and just not a place I would want to hang out . All that being said the location is good and if some effort was... More

close to U of T campus, but tucked away; lots of food and beverage choices; very accommodating - let us switch tables to a better booth; good service, and very good fish and chips (though there could have been more of each) and wings with great flavour but a bit dry (heat lamped?). I'd go back next time I'm around... More

I had lunch there today in a group of 12 people. A lot of us took TTC and the pub is steps away from St. George subway station, on a quiet street. It is nice and cosy inside, and very clean. I had fish and chips with a salad substitute for chips and an order of crispy potato pancakes. Everything... More

First visit was a nice surprise as walk in on a warm Friday evening. Excellent atmosphere on back patio - lots of drink and food specials. Great service from an experienced waiter. Bathrooms located in basement.

While visiting Toronto, we stumbled along this pub which was near our hotel and a subway station. The food was pretty good for pub food and the service was quick and friendly. An added bonus is that Brewhaha is right below which serves craft beers.

Decent selection of beers, good selection of pub fare well prepared and served. Great place for a meal before a Varsity Game and if you've tolerated accompanying her shopping on Bloor St this is your reward.

We have dined at the Duke of York many times due to its close proximity to the Royal Conservatory of Music and our experience that service is always quick, which means we can always get to the concert on time. Over the years we have tried many menu items and only a few are memorable: Moroccan Vegetable Stew and the... More

Staying in Midtown

Neighbourhood Profile
Midtown
Midtown is a dynamic part of Toronto with some of its most stylish high-rise residences and heritage buildings. The area sees busy shoppers with bag-laden arms balancing lattes in paper cups as they travel from one luxury brand to the next, taking advantage of the proximity of high-end shops. The reflecting pools, jogging trails, and nature treks of the Rosehill Revision are always a hub of outdoor activity, and after a workout from either running or splurging, many take advantage of the spas and massage parlors Midtown has to offer. Away from the bakeries, boutiques, and glamorous old theaters of the district's center, locals use the weekend to embrace the more suburban feel of Midtown's parks, tennis courts, outdoor markets, and the manicured grounds of Casa Loma, while families indulge the area's state-of-the-art playground and learning facilities. Of course, no high-brow district is complete without a healthy counter-culture: Midtown boasts some of the wildest street art and full-wall graffiti of any neighborhood in Toronto.
