This review is a little late but it is time i write it. I came to Donatello Restaurant during the holiday season just before christmas with the girl i am dating for dinner. When coming into the restaurant it was presented very nice the inside, we both sat down and order a caesar salad to start. The caesar salad arrived... More

Quaint atmosphere. and amazing service. Delicious food. Highly recommend it! Came here for dinner when visiting with my son who has newly moved to Toronto for work so we are not familiar with many restaurants north of the lakefront area. Decided to give this one a try and have found a real gem. The complimentary bread/butter was delicious, as was... More

Outstanding meal. Order the Veal chop -not on the menu. Love the overall atmosphere, small bar, and moderate sized dining area.

Donatello's is a bit noisy and close but the service is great and the food is really quite good. I love the beef Carpaccio and the pasta dishes are tasty. If you have room, the tiramisu is house-made and delish.

I recently had a double opportunity to spend time at this low key restaurant. First opportunity was a networking lunch with old colleagues in the travel industry. Everything was very smooth and well executed, both in terms of reception by the empathic owner and efficIent service. I was pleasantly surprised by the food, traditional Italian with a touch of international... More

Had the privilege of meeting the owner and the entire staff. All were very hospitable and accommodating. Their food recommendations were excellent. We would definitely come back or recommend without hesitation.

Went pre-theatre with another couple. The menu was extensive but plastic covered pages are cheap looking. Resto too dark as well so hard to read the menu. The Cesare Salad had "home made " dressing but was water. Sprinkled cheese came in a bowl and should be freshly shredded by hand at the table for a restaurant of this caliber.... More

Ordered the torelinni and my date had the seafood ravioli. The atmosphere upstairs was very cheesey with cheap prints on the walls and old walmart guitars in the corner. The foot was rich, almost too rich. I presume there is a stick of butter per plate. The ceaser salad dressing seemed cheap and watery. Though I did like the lettuce... More

My daughter and I, while travelling in Toronto, decided to have our first dinner at Donnatelo not thinking that it was also on St-Valentine's day. The place was full (good thing we had a reservation) and seems a little hectic at first while we waited to talk to the hostess who seemed to be a little disorganized. Once seated though,... More

Had a nice dinner here over the weekend. The service was outstanding, friendly, attentive, and easy going. Nice shrimp cocktail and pasta. The décor was super cozy and pretty on a cold winter night.

Staying in Downtown

Neighbourhood Profile
Downtown
At the heart of Toronto, Downtown is the destination for cheap eats and fast fashion. Cut through by hip and trendy Yonge Street, the vibe here is young, with a strong student influence from the Ryerson University Campus. As a result, the Downtown area is always in flux: undergoing the construction of new facilities, with fresh retail spaces and pop-up cafes. Home to Toronto's largest indoor shopping mall, a number of vintage cinemas, and a healthy nightlife centered on the area's Distillery District bar and clubs near the East End, it's both an easygoing daytime spot and a popular party place after sunset. It also features some of Toronto's best outdoor landmarks, including Yonge-Dundas Square and the Nathan Phillips Square: perfect for a concert, a skate, or a relaxing sit-down.
