We went to Astoria quite late and were welcomed by the staff. We felt like it was a family owned business. We ordered delicious salad, the best tzatziki and pita I've ever tasted, along with flaming sagonaki and yummy spinach spanakopita. Astoria is a relaxed, authenic atmosphere with great food. The staff's personality adds to the delightful ambience.

Have been going here for years. Still very good but every time we go it seems to be losing its customer appeal. We used to be greeted so warmly, very attentively and now we always feel rushed. If they can bring back the old good service it will be better. Food is always good but can not enjoy when you... More

A friend who I had not seen in a long time wanted to go here and as I was visiting Toronto, I followed her lead. We walked in and the place smelled good, lots of delicious flavours wafting through the restaurant, it was half full and we were greeted and seated by our server. He asked us what we wanted... More

Okay the portions are HUGE. If you want to get anything get the small size. I was starving, the service was pretty fast but it was just those portions, DAMN. The potatoes were pretty good, but I found the tzatziki a bit bitter. Maybe it was just me. The food was good, but not extraordinary. Weird because the front of... More

I nused to go to this restaurant years ago, went there this past weekend and I was surprised how the food was not as I remember.. Just had dinner in this restaurant. The food was ok. Nothing special. This restaurant lacks Greek character. Breaded shrimp? The service was ok. The atmosphere reminds me of Swiss Chalet. Positive is the chicken was juicy. However first and last visit.

We have been going to Astoria'a for years. It used to be our go-to place for Greek food. Although it's still pretty great, I feel that it has gone down a bit in quality and value. Their souvlaki meals are your standard grilled meat skewers. The salad is standard, potatoes are standard. Overall, it's a good bet but nothing that... More

Restaurant is half full and it is not a busy time. Came for takeout. Waited 25 minutes for takeout. I think I would have bee served faster if I sat down for dinner. They should not have take out if they can't honour it.

Everything is from a can or package, the feta is precrumbled garbage. The Salad is the worst greek salad you can look at, no toppings -- The souvlaki is dry and the rice and potatoes tasteles The lamb? Thats a disgrace to the Greek people who built a reputation on cooking divine lamb dishes. This is a new Mr Greek... More

Staying in East End

Neighbourhood Profile
East End
The East End is an eclectic amalgamation of areas that team up to make this district one of the most multi-faceted and alluring. Home to Toronto's LGBT community hub, Gay Village is alive and pumping day or night with friendly bars, nightclubs, and cafes – its thumb is on the pulse of excitement. For a more relaxed day, the East End has the largest collection of restored Victorian homes, and its stately streets, tree-lined and bursting at the seams with affluence, often sport farmers markets and street artists, epitomized by the effusive St. Lawrence Market. One of the most gorgeous of Toronto's neighborhoods, it also straddles Lake Ontario in an area called The Beach, where you'll find folks cycling and strolling along the sandy shorelines, getting some sun or enjoying shopping, dining, and pub options. For some fabulous food, the vivacious personalities running the restaurants in the East End's Greektown is only equaled by the fun and authenticity of the street stalls and restaurants at its expansive Indian Bazaar. 'Something for everyone' has never been so accurate.
