Centrally located in the heart of the Annex, a short walk from the Spadina subway, BTW is a lovely sit down Mediterranean resto. Great location for getting together with friends, where good conversation does not require shouting. It has a brief, to the point menu,...More

Went to this cafe before we attended a documentary at the Bloor Cinema. Two of the four of us ordered the BTW Signature salad for $12. The name of this salad would indicate it should be fantastic and the waitress said it was good. The...More

Toronto was gifted with incredible weather for the "Family Day" weekend, unheard of to sit on patio with coat off, but this happened. Our server proudly told us that he'd been up at 5am to put out the tables and chairs so that we could...More

We've been living in the area for over 30 years, and we used to come to By the Way quite often years ago but we stopped coming, and I don't even know why. Maybe because we had kids - the place is small and not...More

Good service and reasonably priced food. By the Way Cafe is a great spot for weekend brunch and their breakfast brew coffee makes the morning easier to get through.

We stayed close by, so this restaurant was in walking distance and the fresh air only enhanced our appetite. Cozy restaurant with less than 10 tables. Service was friendly and informative and fast. Food came fresh and just the right temperature, of course, it was...More

We were looking for a good neighborhood-type place for breakfast and were pleased to find By The Way. It was a warm October day so we were seated in the tented patio space - very pleasant atmosphere. Menu had a good selection of breakfast items,...More

Before our TIFF movie, we had brunch at By the Way Cafe. It was quite busy, and we had to wait briefly for a table; people come and go fairly regularly, so the wait wasn't long. This was breakfast/brunch, so the coffee was offered and...More

We went for a brunch with friends. Dishes were good. Good quality. However the staff is not very nice, unpatient and not very friendly. Still a bit expensive for students.

Description
By The Way is a much-loved neighbourhood favourite that offers contemporary Mediterranean fare with Latin flare in the heart of the Annex. A reliable, tasty standby for generous, nourishing eats, BTW has all the meal bases covered, from breakfast to late-night fill-up. Omelettes, pasta dishes and eggs benny get lots of mention, as does the fine selection of Middle Eastern choices. The restaurant enjoys a particular reputation for its healthy focus. There's also a solid selection of vegetarian dishes. A surprisingly extensive wine list includes both house and vintage options. The space is bright and cheerful. The big corner patio fills up in the summertime.
