They said do not offer sampling....having a big hot chocolate bowl and small cups right there, it does NOT cost much to offer spontaneously offer customers a sample (at least from time to time). More so, when a customer asked just to try........ More

I am now a chocolatier, and SOMA chocolate has been my inspiration. I have been going to Soma once or twice a year for a special Mayan hot chocolate experience and delicious quality chocolate. A real treat. I recommend Soma for the location with the rustic atmosphere of the Distillery District, and for the chocolate factory visual experience! Worth the... More

I loved this place. The smell of chocolate when you open the door is just amazing! You can also see how they manufacture chocolate.

This is a lovely little shop that manufactures its own chocolate products. Prices are more reasonable than you would expect and very affordable.

This chocolate factory and store is worth a special trip from out of town, or sometimes we have the chocolate shipped to us. The 100% pure Arcana chocolate is the smoothest, most intense dark chocolate around, and I can share it with my friend who can't have sugar or artificial sweeteners!

Their gelato and sorbetto is truly fantastic and some flavours I have never seen anywhere else before. I had a scoop of blueberry & basil sorbetto and a scoop of the pistachio gelato. Both flavours incredibly good. Two scoops cost me $5.50. You can sample a couple of flavours so give it a go. You will love this place.

Staying in Downtown

Neighbourhood Profile
At the heart of Toronto, Downtown is the destination for cheap eats and fast fashion. Cut through by hip and trendy Yonge Street, the vibe here is young, with a strong student influence from the Ryerson University Campus. As a result, the Downtown area is always in flux: undergoing the construction of new facilities, with fresh retail spaces and pop-up cafes. Home to Toronto's largest indoor shopping mall, a number of vintage cinemas, and a healthy nightlife centered on the area's Distillery District bar and clubs near the East End, it's both an easygoing daytime spot and a popular party place after sunset. It also features some of Toronto's best outdoor landmarks, including Yonge-Dundas Square and the Nathan Phillips Square: perfect for a concert, a skate, or a relaxing sit-down.
