We came in new to the Rose Wood looking for all day Dim Sum. Unless you really know your Dim Sum menus, you could easily order more than you are hoping for. This was the case for us. After being served a steaming pot of jasmine tea, Eric took our order sheet. He circled back to us at least two... More

Two level dining and always very busy, full to bursting. Noise level can be quite high, especially when tables are being cleared. Very personable, friendly host and warm welcome from other staff members. No carts but all the usual dim sum choices plus a few larger items are presented on a laminated sheet with pictures. The host is happy to... More

Everything we had was awesome, there was just the three of us and we ordered 7 different items to share and we were full! ( and the Bill was just short $40) You get hot tea when you sit and check off a menu paper with what you want ( go to their website for pictures of the menu and... More

We were here for brunch and ordered a few varieties of dim sum. I wasn't sure if there is a preference for less salt by the chef in his food preparation. I felt that all the dim sum I had would have tasted better if more salt is used in the cooking to enhanced it's taste. As for service, it... More

Dim-sum with waiter/waitress service rather than a trolley, but with simple tickbox order sheet - food is very good, comes quite quickly, and is very well priced.

We went for the all-you-can eat dim sum supper buffet that cost $18.99 per person. We ordered a moderate amount of food at the beginning to ensure that we weren't ordering too much. After we ate that order, we placed our second moderate order. Our waitress said "MORE?" in a loud, unfriendly voice . We waited 15 minutes and when... More

The Dim sum here is excellent, and you will be surrounded by patrons hailing from China which is an amazing sign! The food is authentic, piping hot and the service is lukewarm, but efficient. Just like in Beijing! Dirt cheap as well!

I went on a week night and there were a few tables of asian patrons (always a good sign). I ordered all my favourite dishes and they were all terrible. The har gow was gummy and the eggplant wasn't stuffed with shrimp like it traditionally should be. It was stuffed with "fish paste" which made it smelled fishy and rank.... More

After being to China I am very spoiled for Chinese food and it is hard for me to find a good restaurant. This one was picked up by a friend. We needed somewhere to go for lunch and dim sum sounded like a perfect option. One thing that was obvious there were many Chinese in the restaurant, which is always... More

Rosewood is not a destination restaurant unless you happen to be in the area and looking for dim sum. It's an unprepossessing eatery in an unprepossessing part of town but it offers dim sum all day. The slightly unsavoury entrance leads to a rather dowdy dining room with plain tables and plastic crockery. Service is a bit hit and miss,... More

Neighbourhood Profile
Chinatown
Toronto's main Chinatown has the honor of being the largest in North America. Gaping down across Dundas Street West and Spadina Avenue, the area is a wonderful medley of shops and restaurants, busy signs and bright red gates, a destination for foodie fun. Chinatown's streets are always bustling, packed with people and outdoor stalls hawking fresh produce and products. The restaurants and authentic marketplaces that shoulder in against each other display shining roast ducks and menus studded with dumplings and noodle bowls. The air is pervaded with music. different languages, and the smell of fried food and mouth-watering desserts. Chinatown's restaurants represent a broad range of fare, from traditional Szechuan and Shanghai foods, to other Asian delicacies, including some of the top Japanese, Vietnamese, and Korean spots in the city. Whether you're in the mood for a sit-down tea house or a bubble tea to go, Chinatown is the spot to enjoy an exciting walk and the promise of leaving satisfied.
