Great food, lots of people and beer. There were board games available to play. Relaxed atmosphere, and an easy walk from our B&B. Residential neighborhood right off a commercial street.

We love Stout! We first discovered it during the 100th Grey Cup and revisited it for the 104th two weeks ago – a perfect neighborhood pub in a Victorian house along Carlton, it opened its arms to us on a cold grey day with a biting wind. Equipped with a fireplace, wood floors, board games and comfy seats everywhere, it... More

The food was good, we had the nachos as a start, which almost filled us, followed by a nice butter chicken curry. Very filling, though a bit on the expensive side. Great selection of beer, I will have to try the Blood of Cthulhu another time. We liked the fact that there were games available to play - and the... More

Had a show at the Phoenix Concert Hall and had to choose between Stout and another pub location on Jarvis. After a review on their website, it seemed that Stout was more in line with what we were looking for. And it did not disappoint. Being one of the first cold nights of the fall/winter, it was great to walk... More

We stopped here while in town for business and enjoyed the pub. They have plenty of beers on tap and food choices were traditional pub food. I opted for the Shepherd's Pie and it was fantastic. It was a bit but what pub isn't. We had a table by the window so were able to converse easily. Would definitely stop... More

We just popped in for a quick drink before dinner at House on Parliament. It was nice and relaxing when we got in with just a few people having a quiet drink. It's a really beautiful pub. However, we weren't there long when lots of families arrived and some sort of quiz kicked off in the front part of the... More

Hello "Beanie 14", Thank you for coming by and for taking the time to write a review of Stout. We play Headscratchers trivia every Monday and Tuesday evening - the pub does change rather quickly from quiet to busy! But hey, a busy pub is a happy pub! We do our best to inform non-trivia guests about what's going on... More

We went during the Cabbagetown Festival and stumbled upon this wonderful pub. The beer menu is unbelievable! The Stout house beer was very good and there's something for everyone beerwise. We had 2 share items. Perogies and baked brie. Both were very good. Our server was very personable. Prices were reasonable - the bill for the two items mentioned and... More

My sister and I were in Toronto for a few days and happened on this pub after walking in the wrong direction from our hotel. The lunch we had was so delicious we both felt that it was well worth walking 25 min the wrong way. My sister's Mac & Cheese was amazing. I had the Cobb salad which was... More

I'd been here before at the invitation of an old friend. So when I was in the neighbourhood again I brought my wife here for a mid-week lunch. Miles was our server and he was efficient, knowlegable and friendly too. My wife had fish and chips that she enjoyed. I opted for the traditional eggs benedict. I enjoyed those too.... More

Staying in Downtown

Neighbourhood Profile
At the heart of Toronto, Downtown is the destination for cheap eats and fast fashion. Cut through by hip and trendy Yonge Street, the vibe here is young, with a strong student influence from the Ryerson University Campus. As a result, the Downtown area is always in flux: undergoing the construction of new facilities, with fresh retail spaces and pop-up cafes. Home to Toronto's largest indoor shopping mall, a number of vintage cinemas, and a healthy nightlife centered on the area's Distillery District bar and clubs near the East End, it's both an easygoing daytime spot and a popular party place after sunset. It also features some of Toronto's best outdoor landmarks, including Yonge-Dundas Square and the Nathan Phillips Square: perfect for a concert, a skate, or a relaxing sit-down.
