I think I can call myself a patron of this place - I come here regularly and for a reason. This place is simply the best - amazing service and delightful food. All staff are super friendly and trying to make your visit good, they had a couple of odd hires over the years but it looks like these people... More

Arrived late for a lunch appointment and ordered the first thing that I saw on the menu, a burger. The restaurant had a great vibe and appeared to be operating at peak capacity. Lunch arrived. I took a bight and was impressed by the initial burst of flavour. Then, I realized that the majority of the generous, hand-formed patty was... More

Don’t eat here. You can’t get your legs under the bar and the “house tonic” has no flavor. The food is conventional, perfunctory and boring. The oysters are tiny. The chips are too salty; so is their aioli dip. The steak haché is underdone and has a silly, blah egg on top. The ribs are over-sauced. The “poulet” is not... More

My husband and I come here nearly every Monday night and enjoy the half priced wine and the hamburger which is amazing. It is so fresh and filled with so much flavour. Even when they don't have it on the menu they always try and accommodate us. The union salad is simple and delicious. The service is perfect.

Four of us visited and all left very satisfied. When we arrived it was very quiet but by the time we left the restaurant was packed, reservations are highly recommended. The restaurant itself is small and comfortable. The service was very good. We had oysters and the elk sliders to start. If there is any one single dish I would... More

Steak and sides all cooked to perfection, a nice bit of spice and excellent service. This restaurant is on the costly side, but it's really worth it. You'll leave extremely full and satisfied with your dinner.

Walked in to shelter from a snowstorm. Really enjoyed sitting at the bar and chatting with the incredible staff here. Went in for drinks, ended up having dinner. Loved the elk sliders👊🙌

Nothing gastronomically exciting, but everything is well prepared with great ingredients. Steak tartare is one of the best and elk sliders are also taste worthy. Rotisserie chicken is very moist and fragrant, but the sauce is overpowering and slightly salty. Sticky ribs are smokey, moist and flavourful, with a sauce that again might be overpowering. Gnocchi is good, but not... More

I found about Union through Monocle magazine, a source which always comes through for me. The food and wine was just marvelous as was the knowledgeable and helpful staff. The wine list featured some Ontario winemakers, and we agreed Pearl Morissette's Chardonnay would be a regular at our table if we lived in these parts. The open-faced elk sliders with... More

Did we have to wait? Yes. Was it worth it? Absolutely! Delicious! My son and his family eat here a lot and recommended just about everything on the menu. Impossible to choose a bad dish. Even though it was really crowded the servers kept their cool and delivered with a smile. I would definitely go back.

Staying in Queen Street and West Queen West

Neighbourhood Profile
Queen Street and West Queen West
Known as the Art & Design District, West Queen West is one of the most energetic and dynamic of Toronto's neighborhoods. Along with its great modernist museums, clubs, and restaurants, it's home to some of the funkiest specialty shops, ranging from clothing to stationary to collectables, and caters to niche and vintage shoppers of all kinds. That makes it a mecca for creatives, including hobbyists designers, writers, and painters. With ink on their hands and fabric pelts in their bags, visitors to Queen Street traverse the avant-garde blend of historic architecture and ultra-contemporary fare. Home to some of Toronto's chicest hotels and most modish java fixes, busy with street cars, and always suffused with live music drifting onto packed patios at bars and clubs by nightfall, the vibrancy of West Queen West is undeniable.
