Service was good, atmosphere is that of a well worn and established, but well maintained and run diner. 24 hours is a bonus in an area where not much is open real early before a run to the airport. Weekend sees a buffet, but ordering from the menu gave good quality for classic breakfast diner fare. Good options and value... More

Went to eat at the golden griddle late after attending a blue jays game with a couple of my friends. Food was excellent, i had pancakes, eggs, bacon, great late night food. However, when we were making small talk with the waitress about baseball and I mentionned im a red sox fan and im hoping we get a team back... More

From breakfast to dinner all day and night long you won't be hungry. I went here every day for the 10 days I was in Toronto. I had the breakfast. I don't eat meat, so ate eggs and toast. For $5.97 which included the tax I got two eggs and two slices of toast. I always asked for a mug... More

My first poor experience at a golden griddle. My group of friends and I stayed at a hotel nearby for an event and decided to pop in for a quick breakfast before heading home. My husband and two of our friends ate at the buffet. I ordered the eggs Benedict. My meal took over 45 minutes to arrive. While waiting,... More

I used to eat at the Golden Griddle chain when I lived in Toronto and as I was visiting thought it would be nostalgic to go back and unfortunately, it was not that great. I ordered a Clubhouse sandwich which came with fries. The sandwich came with a packet of Kraft Mayo to put the mayo on yourself. The server... More

This was by far the worst experience I've ever had at a restaurant. I ordered eggs benedict and my friend ordered a regular breakfast with scrambled eggs and bacon. Our server was a senior lady, very nice, but also very slow. She made me calculate our bills using my phone because she didn't know how to do it. On top... More

Feel like living dangerously? Eat here. Don't let it's grungy appearance fool you, it's not even affordable. The waitress was the sweetest little old lady but needs to retire. My coffee mug was served with lipstick on it. There was dried egg yolk on my fork. I ordered eggs Benedict, which the waitress confused with eggs florentine. At least it... More

The exterior of the Golden Griddle on 45 Carlton is not very pleasing to the eyes but I decided to give it a chance. I was greeted by a host who looked like he was in deep depression. The waitress was very kind no complaints on how she served. I started with a glass of water and coffee, my coffee... More

It's cheap, but we call it the "awful waffle". The buffet is...dismal. New product is simply poured in over the old, so don't dig too deep in the scramble egg tray. For cheap post drinking eats, go for it, but it's not a place we go to more than once a year and leave, vaguely concerned for our souls.

I was there with mates from Ryerson and the food was long in coming and then they got the order wrong and we felt like they wanted us to accept the food as it was. Not worth the money and the staff was not attentive. There are lots of better and cheaper places in the neighborhood. Won't be back.

Staying in Downtown

Neighbourhood Profile
Downtown
At the heart of Toronto, Downtown is the destination for cheap eats and fast fashion. Cut through by hip and trendy Yonge Street, the vibe here is young, with a strong student influence from the Ryerson University Campus. As a result, the Downtown area is always in flux: undergoing the construction of new facilities, with fresh retail spaces and pop-up cafes. Home to Toronto's largest indoor shopping mall, a number of vintage cinemas, and a healthy nightlife centered on the area's Distillery District bar and clubs near the East End, it's both an easygoing daytime spot and a popular party place after sunset. It also features some of Toronto's best outdoor landmarks, including Yonge-Dundas Square and the Nathan Phillips Square: perfect for a concert, a skate, or a relaxing sit-down.
