Lovely higher end pub in a restored historic Victorian mansion. If you are a old house geek - worth a quick look, just for the reno. They have a great selection of beers on tap - importantly at the right temperature. Food is definetly a step above traditional pub grub, but you will be paying for that. Burger with blue... More

We were greeted at the Entrance by 2 staff. We did not have a reservation and the place was full. They offered for us to go upstairs for a drink and would call us if a table became available, unless we liked where we were. We ordered drinks and saw no sign of being called downstairs. Decided to stay for... More

We made our way downtown after hearing about the house made burger. It was fabulous and came with a side of fries and the pub's homemade ketchup. The burger was by far one of the very best we have had in the city, very rich, extra beefy, could not finish the fries. The staff were great, very friendly and prompt.... More

Large comfortable pub serves roast beef and lamb on Sunday. The food was good, and the service was efficient and friendly. Quite a few cask beers, as well as a large selection in bottles. Wines by the glass and bottles also. Overall a very good experience. Recommended.

Have been here before and love the surroundings but if you want to mimic a british pub you must have generous portions of food at reasonable prices. Had the shepherds pie in a pudding size dish with a small side of green peas. There was lots of mash in the pot with 2 carrots and enough meat to feed a... More

My husband and I went to the Queen and Beaver for a birthday dinner celebration this past weekend, reserving a table in the dining room as opposed to the bar. The pub is located on one of the side streets a few blocks from Yonge and Dundas Square, so very easily accessible by subway (get off at the Dundas station).... More

Spotted this place by walking in the neighborhood and decided to give it a shot. Great vibe, delicious food and great service! Definetly try to be upstairs, its really chill but also nice. Josh the bartender, is such a great guy! My girlfriend and I loved hanging with him and we are coming back for sure! Great IPA beers that... More

This is a beautiful looking victorian building with lovely decor inside. Very comfortable atmosphere in here and staff are very welcoming. Had the fish n chips to eat and they were outstanding. Place was a little pricey though, 12 dollars for a cider but worth it for the atmosphere i'd say :)

While I really liked the staff of the pub, I found the prices to be far too high for a pub. A burger, dessert, and a drink was far too costly, especially for the quality. The burger was overall average. The homemade ice cream, though, was quite tasty.

Very cool little find on a small street across from the Chelsea Hotel. We were looking for a casual spot for lunch, and liked that it had the option of a very casual "den" upstairs. A great place to watch sports, hang out with friends after work, or even to bring your laptop. It's got rustic den-type furniture, as well... More

Staying in Downtown

Neighbourhood Profile
Downtown
At the heart of Toronto, Downtown is the destination for cheap eats and fast fashion. Cut through by hip and trendy Yonge Street, the vibe here is young, with a strong student influence from the Ryerson University Campus. As a result, the Downtown area is always in flux: undergoing the construction of new facilities, with fresh retail spaces and pop-up cafes. Home to Toronto's largest indoor shopping mall, a number of vintage cinemas, and a healthy nightlife centered on the area's Distillery District bar and clubs near the East End, it's both an easygoing daytime spot and a popular party place after sunset. It also features some of Toronto's best outdoor landmarks, including Yonge-Dundas Square and the Nathan Phillips Square: perfect for a concert, a skate, or a relaxing sit-down.
