I have a brain injury which is a disability and sometimes I get side tracked easily. I asked for my bill. Let the waitress know I need to transfer $ to my cc because recently misplaced my debit. I showed her something on my phone did the transfer and gave her my card to make the payment Still talked to... More

Went down for dinner and was greeted by friendly staff and seated promptly. The ambiance and warm inviting atmosphere was classic pub hospitality. Located in downtown Toronto and just a stones throw from our hotel. A great place to meet family and friends to have a delicious English style meal. Come on down if you are in the downtown area... We had a hearty, hot traditional bangers and mash meal here - sooo good on a very cold night. Beer was good. Would recommend for a meal any time.

Visited on a Monday night, in town on business, place was not busy. Waiter was at best disinterested, at most, surly. On tap beer was cold, but just. Ordered fish and chips, an English themed pub after all, was disappointed with both the quality and the small quantity for the $17.99 cost. Decor in the place is tired, maybe the... More

Dear TR1964, We're sorry to hear you had a poor experience in our pub. There is no excuse for the service you received or the quality of your Fish and Chips. Customers usually love that item and it is one of our most popular entrees. We'd hate to lose you as a customer and we'd like to invite you to... More

It seems like a popular spot. The menu was decent, and lots to choose from. A little pricey, but don't forget where you are. Would I go back, sure, why not!

We visited this bar on a number of occasions during our holiday. We sat near the bar and played cards until we went off for dinner! The staff were all very friendly and it was not an issue for us just to sit and enjoy our game! On our last night in the city we decided to eat here, a... More

We tried this "pub" as it was to the hotel, we were really tired so wanted local. It's themed like a pub but it doesn't quite get there. Anyway, the beer was ok, the food was quite good and reasonable priced. I had a chicken pie, which was both tasty and filling. If you want a place that's a quick... More

We enjoyed a delightful afternoon at the Duke of Somerset; superior service, and terrific food, with steak cooked to perfection. The Duke of Somerset is an upscale pub with very comfortable with quiet surroundings. Although busy, It was a perfect venue to spend the afternoon with friends.

Staying in Downtown

Neighbourhood Profile
Downtown
At the heart of Toronto, Downtown is the destination for cheap eats and fast fashion. Cut through by hip and trendy Yonge Street, the vibe here is young, with a strong student influence from the Ryerson University Campus. As a result, the Downtown area is always in flux: undergoing the construction of new facilities, with fresh retail spaces and pop-up cafes. Home to Toronto's largest indoor shopping mall, a number of vintage cinemas, and a healthy nightlife centered on the area's Distillery District bar and clubs near the East End, it's both an easygoing daytime spot and a popular party place after sunset. It also features some of Toronto's best outdoor landmarks, including Yonge-Dundas Square and the Nathan Phillips Square: perfect for a concert, a skate, or a relaxing sit-down.
