We went there on 3rd of May . It looked as almost everything was closed in Toronto island even though it was a sunny day , we accidentally came across this place , we were delighted that it was opened . The soup was great , the rest of family ordered different food and everybody happy with it , the... More

Best place to stop off for lunch and a pint on Toronto Islands. And the desserts are fantastic. We ate inside, but the patio/outside area looked great if it was a little warmer.

On my first visit to the Island, I was walking along the trees, lake front and boardwalks when I discovered this place. It seemed really inviting. It was a nice sunny and warm day, so a beer was calling me. I sat down in the shade in the outside garden area, ordered a cold one and just relaxed for a... More

A very nice place to stop and rest after walking the island. Great choice for vegetarians and those wanting gluten or dairy free. Nicely priced too. A little close for seating as not much space between tables. All in all a nice place to eat.

Such a great restaurant, any season with a great shaded patio looking out on to Lake Ontario for summer days and evenings, to a cozy bistro for the chiller days. My friend and I have been enjoying many visits to The Rectory for the pass 15 years. Very personable servers , always a different selection of meals on the menu,... More

We visited this place on a lovely winters day, the unassuming building houses a relaxed and accommodating cafe with friendly staff and a varied and surprisingly refreshing menu (especially the vegetarian choices). We can highly recommend the breakfast sandwich and the tofu hash. The cakes available are equally as easy to recommend. The service was very friendly and speedy. The... More

Stopped into the Rectory Cafe for a quick cup of hot tea on a cold winter day. From the second I walked in the woman behind the counter(I assume the owner) was rude, cold, and generally unwelcoming. If this hadn't been the only place open on the island during the winter I would have left and gone somewhere else.

Nice location, rude service from the waitress, average food and high prices … not recommended I'm afraid.

While strolling around the island stumbled on this nice little cafe. Great little garden patio which was great to enjoy the sun, have a drink and a bite to eat. Ended up spending a few hours here which was very relaxing.

Staying in Downtown West

Neighbourhood Profile
Downtown West
Downtown West is home to Toronto's gorgeous Inner Harbor, and is a must-visit for lovers of art and the outdoors. The area's rich cultural heritage is celebrated by a number of monuments and museums, giving the neighborhood a mature feel. As a premier destination for modern art, people here stroll through the cool contemporary pieces at the Power Plant, enjoy the outdoor installations along Queen's Quay and Canoe Landing, and picnic among the zany designs of the Toronto Music Garden. The waterfront itself is often suffused with bikers and joggers, and the harbor is always packed with classic ships with masts raised. The vintage boats and ferries to the Toronto Islands make for a charming contrast against Downtown West's backdrop of skyscrapers, condos, and food trucks serving up hot, fresh fare to locals on the go. The area has a peaceful energy, and is popular with tourists and Torontonians alike.
