Your table will be the size of a piece of paper, you will hear the stranger at the next table better than your your date across, you will be talked down to in a fake Italian accent and they will upsell up and move you out as fast as possible. Service is insanely condescending: I had the audacity to ask... More

Nice warm entry way. Cool cellar. Had a few glasses of wine after work with some olives, bread and meat and cheese tray. Service was friendly and responsive without being over burdening. Nice wine. Over all a bit pricey but I'd go back.

Loved the meal and the music in the lively Italian restaurant in the heart of downtown Toronto. Would have given 5 stars but I asked to taste one of the wines they serve by the glass before I ordered a full bottle and the waitress stated, "we don't allow our customers to taste the wine." REALLY? Classy restaurants let their... More

Had a send off lunch with our office group and the decision makers made Terroni as the choice partly because very able to accommodate our large group of almost 20 - especially during the upcoming holiday season. If I had to rate the restaurant only on atmosphere, Terroni would get a 5/5. However we go to eat in a restaurant.... More

Cocktails and Tagliere del Salumiere were good, but the gnocchi tasted like nothing and the pizza had no sauce, it was extremely dry. We asked for butter and she said she had no butter, ok then can we have olive oil and baslsamic vinegar? She only brought olive oil and never came back. When I politely complained to our waitress... Even mid-week, this place gets packed at lunchtime. Food was good and reasonably priced by downtown standards, wait staff attentive and made good recommendations. Drinks were vastly overpriced. The main problem was the loud, and I mean LOUD booming music provided by what seemed to be an in-house DJ. Difficult at times to hold a reasonable conversation. The ironic thing... More

Italian restaurant to the core. Italian menus (but still intelligible) with pasta, pizza and some other options. Pricing is decent for the quality. Décor is great with different rooms with different characteristics. Strangely enough, you want to visit the basement where you will be able to see old "cell" that will likely intrigue you. Busy place but an interesting one.... More

We ordered a white pizza and a saucy tomato pizza for flavour. The Al Salmone was a white pizza with in-house smoked salmon, Italian cream, mozzarella, capers, red onions, and fresh tomatoes. The Smendozzata had tomato, mozzarella, homemade spicy sausage, gorgonzola, and red onions on it. Both pizzas had a very thin crust and were largely portioned! I was so... More

While on a recent visit to Toronto, and staying downtown in the financial district, I asked a local gourmet to recommend a fun place with good food and ambiance to match. She recommended "Terroni" on Adelaide. Reservations for a table on short notice were out of the question so it was a few days before we got there ... but... More

Great vibe at lunch with its mixture of young mothers and business people. Pizza was very good as was my friends tuna salad. Suggest making a reservation as it fills up very fast after noon. Great spot to also pick up some Italian essentials like pasta and sauce.

Thank Bywood

Staying in Downtown

Neighbourhood Profile
At the heart of Toronto, Downtown is the destination for cheap eats and fast fashion. Cut through by hip and trendy Yonge Street, the vibe here is young, with a strong student influence from the Ryerson University Campus. As a result, the Downtown area is always in flux: undergoing the construction of new facilities, with fresh retail spaces and pop-up cafes. Home to Toronto's largest indoor shopping mall, a number of vintage cinemas, and a healthy nightlife centered on the area's Distillery District bar and clubs near the East End, it's both an easygoing daytime spot and a popular party place after sunset. It also features some of Toronto's best outdoor landmarks, including Yonge-Dundas Square and the Nathan Phillips Square: perfect for a concert, a skate, or a relaxing sit-down.
