I haven’t been to this establishment before. I happened to have come for the 2024 Tamil Festival and decided to give it a try. As expected, the restaurant was at full capacity. Despite this, my server was polite and courteous. I ordered their Mysore Onion Masala Dosa. When my meal arrived nearly half an hour later, I expected the amount of Sambhar to be a little more and the tiny portions of chutneys were also too less for the dosa. The meal itself was tasty and filling but it was strange to find raw, freshly cut onion cubes inside the dosa with the potatoes. After I managed to finish my meal with their limited sambhar, and I was paying for my meal, I wanted to know how much they would have charged for an extra bowl of sambhar. It was only then that I discovered that they provide free refills of the sambhar. My server apologized for not informing me about this in advance – it certainly would have helped to make my meal more enjoyable.
There is very little distinction about where the men’s and women’s washrooms are located. The washrooms themselves are clean and well maintained, but because they are located in close vicinity to the handwashing sinks, it can get confusing to know if you’re entering the men’s or the women’s restrooms.
I will be back in the future to try out their other dishes.

The food was delightful and the price was very very reasonable. The waitress was super accommodating to small tweaks and very pleasant. The masala dosa was amazing. The only reason for not giving it a higher rating was the portion of the Sambar (might be a tad small). The chutneys were delicious. The Mango shake was really good but sadly the portion was too small for the price ... not worth it (looked like a mini kids drink).

We visited this restaurant for breakfast and had their a la carte menu. We ordered crispy masala dosas and they were perfect. The red chutney is spicy. The green chutney is just right. Have not acquired a taste for their tomato chutney yet.
The madras filter coffee was great as well. Food is reasonably priced as well

We have always gone to Nilgiris for the vadas especially and food overall. Today their buffet ($19.99) was finally open so I wanted to try it. However my family was ordering 4 other dishes ($50) for themselves and wanted to take a bite of the mirchi bhajji. My cousin had just about put the mirchi close to her mouth when one of the servers came and asked her not to because the buffet cannot be shared. While I understand that and respect the rule because people take advantage, it is also important to be civil and polite and A. Not get someone to bring the food out before taking that bite (culturally it is not polite) and B. She could have first asked if we had ordered other dishes instead of jumping at our throat to not allow anyone to take even a bite! It was humiliating and uncalled for.
As much as I appreciate the food quality at Nilgiris, this kind of customer service is uncalled for and unnecessary. I don’t blame the server but the brand and the operations for training their staff to be inhuman.
The first thing you should be taught in a service industry specially to do with food is to know HOW to be empathetic and serve your customer with respect. Please don’t undermine our intelligence. We too spend our hard earned money to come eat at your restaurant.

The curries and other food served was below standard. People serving are very un professional and lack of communication and knowledge. Very lethargic serving and stale food. This location should be closed down to save good reputation of the Markham location,which is best

After waiting for half an hour, today I asked up to four waiters to bring us food. Unfortunately, the last waiter to arrive was disrespectful to me and told me that he takes a lot of orders before asking me for our order once more, which they didn't serve. He then said (rudely) that it would take an additional 10 minutes to get that. Going to a restaurant as a patron is about getting wonderful food and service. We engaged them in a recent party for catering. The food preparation was to our liking. Freshly prepared and Tasty.
All the guests were full of praise for the uniqueness of the south Indian variety. To them it was novel food, never tasted one like it before. Everyone uniformly praised the food which made the party that much more enjoyable.
As one would appreciate - the food is one of the main aspects of a successful gathering. In that respect Nilgiris played an important role. Thanks to
Mr.Ivan Joseph for taking special care and keeping it ready to be delivered to us on time - just as promised.
About price: For the same menu items we compared two other south Indian restaurants. They were more expensive than Nilgiris. A lot more. So, we are glad we chose this place. They did not disappoint.
All in all, it is a great value.

Alert. Today I have ordered at Brampton Nilgiris Ebenezer Branch and ordered went to Scarborough. Spent 15 minutes in Q for pickup and then front desk staff told me order is not here and it went to Scarborough. So, ordering online materials must be very cautions because you will be paying twice for same stuffs or go and pick up from Scarborough. Both branches staffs will not help if any issue. Order number 1572 date Dec24, 2020. Also, I got info that both branches are run independently. So problem is website and unprofessionally staffs at both locations. I am regular customer of Brampton branch.

This is one of the best South Indian Restaurants in Toronto.
A suggestion for including in the Dosa Menu - "Bangalore Dosa" - it is thicker and less crispy and is in good demand as most restaurants do not serve this variety.
The current Madras dosa is very thin and extremely crispy - just breaks into small pieces and one can effectively enjoy only the ends of the dosa with palya. Hope my request will be considered.

the worst restaurant i have seen in my life.i was there with my family today for lunch around 2.00 pm. my order was not there by 3.00 pm when i talked to the manger or owner, he told me that their first priorty is take out and delevery,you peoples are not importent for us, i strongly sussegt you never never never go there and waste your time.

I made an online order for the food to be picked up by 12:15 at the Scarborough location. My husband went there but the food was not ready. They told him to wait 10 min. After 10 min, the food was not ready. He had an appointment and had to leave after 12:30 pm without the food. I tried to call them to say, he will come back after 1:45, and no one is answering the phone. I already paid for the food. I didn't want to pick up cold food.

Came here for brunch with family.
Food is good, service is okay.
Staff are friendly when helping, but do have to wait to get served.
Food is tasty and quality is good, nice spot in scarborough to try.

When Govt announced no GST on food, instead of passing the benefits to customers the have increased price by 25 to 30 percent

I have visited Nilgiris before, went there with the same expectations. Alas the quality has plummeted. I ordered Masal dosa, poori and vada. Masal dosa was fresh, rest of the itema weren't freah at all. Vada was refried, all the chatnis were ice cold, sambar lacked the authebtic south Indian taste, it was mixed with besan so taste wasnt authentic. The problem loes with their oil, when U enter the restaurant, you are wlcomed by the oil Smell which is of a poor quality oil. Hope they improve their quality.
