Don't be put off by the formica tables, the kitchen knows what they're doing. The menu is daunting to those of us who aren't sushi fanciers, or acquainted with the range of offerings. We each had the dynamite combo of 17 pieces of sushi and sashimi, served with a miso soup and a small salad. The portions were satisfying and... More

I ordered vegetable Bibimbap today at this downtown spot. It was a late lunch and the place was empty. Service was fast and very pleasant. The Bibimbap was accompanied by miso soup (only ok and no tofu) and salad had a weird dressing. The egg in the Bibimbap was totally overcooked and dark brown - black on the underside. The... More

I am not a huge Sushi fan - i tried Asahi's sushi recently and it was mouth watering. we live right across this eatery, so my wife orders from there regularly. definitely one of the best sushi places in town.

I've been here a few times and I've yet to be disappointed. The portions are healthy, haven't finished a meal yet! The food is extremely good and service is always friendly

The sushi is delicious. So are the appetizers. A wonderful surprise when you go through the inside of the restaurant to the back: there's a large terrace where you can eat. It's away from the street traffic and a wonderful little oasis. Enjoyed the atmosphere and the service. Would devotedly go again!

I've been coming to this restaurant for 15+ years and, unfortunately, I have just decided that I'm never returning. Here for dinner with my husband, and ordered a number of - what should be - easy aces for a restaurant like this: spicy tuna maki, dragon roll with albacore tuna, deep fried soft shell crab, and others. While they were... More

I work nearby and this is a great place for reasonably priced sushi. Nice patio outback for in the summer. Service is usually good...but often have to ask for the bill

Only came here for take away, so couldn't really put a full review of the restaurant itself. Place seems a bit dark when you enter, but waiter came quick to take my orders. If you pay by cash for take away, you get 10% discount. Sushi and sashimi are fresh and taste good.

The food here is amazing and the prices are too! Seafood teriyaki bento box is to die for. Not fancy but who cares -- it's amazing and I go as often as I can. Yum, yum, yum.

Staying in Downtown

Neighbourhood Profile
At the heart of Toronto, Downtown is the destination for cheap eats and fast fashion. Cut through by hip and trendy Yonge Street, the vibe here is young, with a strong student influence from the Ryerson University Campus. As a result, the Downtown area is always in flux: undergoing the construction of new facilities, with fresh retail spaces and pop-up cafes. Home to Toronto's largest indoor shopping mall, a number of vintage cinemas, and a healthy nightlife centered on the area's Distillery District bar and clubs near the East End, it's both an easygoing daytime spot and a popular party place after sunset. It also features some of Toronto's best outdoor landmarks, including Yonge-Dundas Square and the Nathan Phillips Square: perfect for a concert, a skate, or a relaxing sit-down.
