We went to The Beet as my daughter recommended it - she was attracted by the organic and vegetarian options. We were all very happy with the experience. The apple and beet salad is to die for! The BBQ chicken wrap was good, though quite spicy... 'real' bbq sauce, not sweet stuff from the grocery store. The green sandwich was... More

Girlfriend found this little gem and we just went for our second time a week after our first. Comfortable, cozy atmosphere with friendly staff, and an eclectic, rustic style. Everything is fresh and local, and this is certainly evident when you eat their food. They even make their own hot sauce in house, but I found it to be far... More

Good food, but disappointing service. Went on a Monday afternoon, and it was not busy. Took a while for someone to come by. We got dirty glasses with tap water as a start. When we asked for clean glasses, the waitress did not apologize. Salad with beets was super basic, for $13. We didn't receive our two sandwiches at the... More

The coffee and smoothie was good but the grilled cheese sandwich had too much mango chutney. It mixed weirdly with the cheese. They put ice in the smoothie which is a trick to use less ingredients. The coffee was not dark roast, too much water. I have been wanting to come here for years for their health conscious food. I... More

Quirky small place. The outside a curved building..inside ..square & basic but loved the eclectic mix of chairs. Varied healthy menu, of which I opted for the Buenos Dias Wrap and chicken. OMG yummy. After a long flight from UK to Toronto earlier in the day..the best thing was this healthy gluten free wrap spread with black beans, quebec cheese,... More

I've been to the Beet about 4 times: twice, the items I ordered, I did not like (mac n cheese for one), once it was okay and the last time, I really liked what I ordered (Buenos Dias bowl). The decor is okay, they have an outdoor area which is nice. It's a bit pricey depending on what you get.

The beet is a great place to go if you want healthy eats. It's not much for atmosphere if sitting indoors but they do have a small patio area. The thai coconut rice bowl was nice but could have used more spicy peanut sauce.

I've been coming here for years and love the vibe and the food at The Beet. But the staff dynamic really needs to change. They are not rude and in fact can be quite friendly but are just completely indifferent to providing adequate service that is reasonably timely. They often can't answer basic questions about the menu and food is... More

We've been several times and the food is always excellent here. Sometimes it can be a bit pricier but the ingredients are quite wonderful. Lovely patio as well if you can score a spot during the summer.

My daughter and I visited twice in the spring. Once, in April, when I would say the food was very good. However, when we went back in June, it was average. I ordered the same dish twice, as I was so impressed in April - chicken with the brown tortilla. However, in June, the amount of chicken was so small... More

Staying in West End

Neighbourhood Profile
West End
The go-to area for new business start-ups, the spry and creative persona of the West End thrives along its streets. Its independent boutiques, galleries, restaurants, and shops offer brands that can't be found elsewhere. Buildings with ground floor consumer spaces sport up-top artist's lofts, and the West End attracts artists, designers, and fashion industry professionals to its living quarters. It is in the cross-hairs of gentrification, but still resisting it with ironic relish. Hot deals can still be found here on furniture and knick-knacks,. Its call to culinary glory is in its well-priced homemade Polish food, hosting Toronto's go-to spots for hot pierogis and cold borscht. High Park, the largest green space in the city, is a place for dreamers and poets to wander and rest, not to mention a number of energetic actors staging outdoor plays in the summertime.
