It’s been years since I’ve been to Mexico, but my visit to Chilaquiles brought back a lot of great memories. The place is a little small, but the staff is well organized and friendly. The food is authentic, and we’ve had it several more times...as takeout since COVID hit. I particularly like the nachos, and quesadilla, but for me the burrito is simply awesome.More
I have got take-out there several times. The food is very good, and the prices very reasonable. My favourites are the chicken soup and vegetarian burritos.
Went here with a friend recently. Their outdoor seating was an alley between two buildings. We both ordered the enchiladas with shredded chicken and mole sauce. The food came out VERY quickly. Like, in 2 minutes. It had obviously been sitting for a while and...was cold, floating in mole sauce and, largely, tasteless. Our server was friendly and attentive, but I don't see myself going back again any time soon.More
After a decade in Texas, I’m hard to please with Mexican food. This is certainly the best Mexican food I’ve had in Ottawa. Been 3 times already. I especially recommend the enfrijoladas. Caveat: If you ask for the tortilla soup vegetarian style they put lumps...of cheese in. Ask for them to leave it out or on the side; if you do it is a remarkably delicious soup. Signature dish (“chilaquiles”) is a bit sloppy but delicious. Salsas in plastic squeeze bottles but they are great. Modest but authentic and relaxing atmosphere. Wonderful casual dinner. Go for it!More
We found this place with trip advisor. My enchiladas were awesome, as were my daughter’s quesadillas. My husband wasn’t impressed with his meal (the restaurant’s namesake). It was just “ok” and not a lot of it. The only negative I noticed was the price of...extras like additional salsa or pico di gallo. So... I was happy with mine, but a mixed review overall.More
Occupying what used to be a burger place and before that an Italian place, this is lovely new find! Very welcoming cantina, makes you think you are south, south of the border in a small family run joint. Weekend evenings they have a live Mexican...duo singing very pleasant songs as a bonus! Good Mexican beer, simple decor and an open kitchen that you can gaze at as your meal is being prepared . Super clean and tasty! We have been here two Fridays and loved everything we ate. Sweet servers, superb food. Go, you will not be disappointed!More
We had a dinner at this restaurant (who just moved to 49 Beechwood) last weekend. It's a bit small but the food is really good. My family is latino and they enjoyed their meal so it tells you that it's good.They even had live music...(Mexican) and they were good too. We had the burrito, tacos and chilaquiles and everyone liked their meal. Reservation is a good idea.More
A quick note: this restaurant is moving to Beechwood (across from the Metro grocery store) on Nov. 1. This is the best and most authentic Mexican food I’ve had in Ottawa. The flavours are true to what you experience when in Mexico. A good variety...of dishes not the menu (try the Chilaquiles!) and very reasonably priced. Very friendly service! I’m sad that they’re leaving their lovely space on Montreal road (because we need businesses like this in Vanier), but Beechwood will bring them more business. I wish them much success and will frequent their new location.More
We first heard about Chilaquiles through a work colleague who strongly recommended going to this restaurant if you like Mexican food. We gave it a try and it did not disappoint! This is a small restaurant that is beautifully decorated. The atmosphere is lovely. The...restaurant was quiet and empty when we ate our dinner. There was nice traditional music playing. The lady who served us was very friendly! On the menu, there are tacos, burritos, enchiladas, and tostadas, as well as a few off-menu dishes that your server will explain to you. For most items on the menu, you have your choice of protein (beef, pork, chicken, or vegetarian). Many options are gluten free. The price is very reasonable for the portion you are served! We are very happy we found this place and will definitely recommend it to our friends and family! We loved the atmosphere of this small restaurant and enjoyed the authentic Mexican food.
