This is my go to place for Chinese food…. Yes the name doesn’t state it but they make fabulous Chinese food as well…. The service is fast and friendly. The food is absolutely amazing. When I travel I compare Chips and Dairy’s dishes to others and they all seem to come up short. My usual is their Cantonese Chow Mien, egg rolls and the house fried rice with one or two alternate dishes thrown in. I order enough to have this for lunch for quite a few days! They also use mostly reusable containers!

Don't let the name mislead you. It is so much more than just chips & dairy! This is one of my go to fast food places. They serve Chinese & Canadian fast foods. They under promise and over deliver. I am always impressed with how quick they are with take-outs and it reaches your home piping hot, and well packaged. No matter what I have ordered from the menu, it never disappoints me. Their poutine, milkshakes, egg rolls, crispy beef, lemon chicken, just to name a few are excellent. Always fresh, flavorful & generous portions. The staff are super friendly and professional as well. This is a well runned family owned business. Highly recommend.

Not the best anymore

Been eating here since around 1976 when it was Dairy King across the street. After the fire at Dairy King in the in the early 2000s they changed the name to Chips and Dairy. Amd the food was great Now, 2014, not so good. Some days they use St-Alberts Cheese, other times they use something that resembles Tofu and is so gross. The fries are wet inside Milkshakes, watery The hotdogs are the only thing worth buying. Buying a small Poutin, Hotdogs and milkshake, $26.00 and I couldn't eat it. Gross.

Fries were undone/mealy inside despite having asked for well done. Gravy was very tasty and vegetarian (a plus for me) and cheese portion was suitable. My boyfriend’s poutine was also underdone. I ordered one hour before close and was told quite quite firmly “make sure you’re here 15 minutes before we close”. Ok!? I didn’t order food not to show up for it. Service experience was disorganized and unprofessional. I asked for no bag and no fork as I like to limit my environmental impact. Was told that was no problem, on the phone. Then upon arrival to pick up, a friendly and polite teenage boy confirmed that he would remove the bag for me, and then another guy (late twenties?) walked by and brusquely said I had to have a bag as the gravy might spill. Teenager seemed chastised and I was taken aback. Was kinda awkward. Turns out the gravy already had spilled before they even bagged it up for me and there was a hole in the bag. Yeay gravy on your seat! If they fixed their service flow at cash, told the older guy to be less snippy, and cooked their fries properly, I would come once a week. As it stands, I prefer to hike out to Orleans for Fritomania- which is cheaper and larger in portion size, with seamless service, incredibly friendly staff, and consistently perfect product.

This used to be our go to restaurant for Chinese food, unfortunately no more. Seems since Covid the family run business seems to but more focus on profits and not qualify and value .

I have been here 3 times and have tried 3 different dishes of Chinese combinations and have loved all of them my favorite thou is the general tso ,The staff are really friendly and the staff are super fast at getting the orders out.Tried the hamburger yesterday and have to say just a frozen patty which was terrible so i will stick with the Chinese food I also love the playground structure and swings for the grandkids.

I’ve been here several times for the standard poutine and burgers which in my opinion are some of the best in Ottawa, but recently I had Chinese food delivered to my house, again it would rival some of the best in the city! Delivery was prompt and the food piping hot! We got the dinner for 3 and was more than enough for 3 adults with leftovers, nobody was hungry afterwards! Wish I would have ate there only because the ice cream and milkshakes are some of the best I’ve had! A gem of a place in the south end of town, if you’re in this area and want good food at a reasonable price, you gotta try this place!

No, it’s not a place to pick up some milk on the way home - but I suppose you could. However, if you want some great Canadian Chinese food, this is the place. The combo plates are the way to go. My wife and I used to get one each. We’d have enough for lunch the next day. Now we get one plate and a separate order of General Tao chicken … and still have enough for lunch. We always get some extra egg rolls. They are the best we’ve had in Ottawa.

Whenever I get a craving for Chinese food but I also want poutine, Chips & Dairy is where I order from. It's not often I am in their area, but I try to make it a point to eat from there at least once or twice a year. The food is delicious, and you get a lot of it. For a bit of a chuckle, check put their website - you'll feel like you are looking at a Geocities website from back in the day. Nonetheless, great food at a good price.

Possibly the best Chinese take out in Ottawa

We've had Chips and Dairy numerous times over the years and it is always consistently fast, and great quality food. Everything we have ever ordered here is great with one exception; the spring rolls. Over the years, we have noticed the spring rolls have gone downhill. The biggest problem with them is that they are really really greasy. It is almost as if they do not drain them after they take them out of the deep fryer. The flavour of grease dominates the spring rolls. We have taken to buying spring rolls from a grocery store and preparing them on our own to supplement the meal. Everything else is great. Usually when I call in an order, they quote me 15 minutes to be ready and I have to race there. The food is always ready when I get there. The food is always packed very well and hot when I get it home. But the greatest thing is some of our favourite dishes are always the same when we get them. They are incredible consistent which for us, goes a long way. We really appreciate getting our food exactly as it was the last time we had it. We will continue ordering from Chips and Dairy and we will also continue to tell our friends about this gem in Blossom Park.
