The food at the Scone Witch is superb--the scones, soup, deserts. (BTW, their scones are not really like British scones, but more like a flavoured fluffy biscuit--I prefer this type). My biggest complaint about this place is the limited amount of seating which is ungoverned by the restaurant staff. As there is no "system" of getting a table, it's an... More

Found this place when recently visiting Ottawa when I was looking for a spot to take our group for breakfast. I read good reviews and saw a picture of their breakfast, and despite it being a farther walk than other spots, I was determined to go here. We arrived just at the turnover from breakfast to lunch, and I luckily... More

We have been searching for fresh scones and decided the Scone Witch is the best spot to experience the English quick breads. This spring we had scones with tea on three occasions, purchasing a pot of clotted cream to take home. Fresh scones with a pot of tea can be a very good afternoon break. The chefs offered a number... Another Trip Advisor find!! A short walk from our hotel and Parliament Hill. The entrance is not off of Elgin, but the security guard pointed us in the right direction. Smells yummy when you walk in. So many scones, so little time! We had the cranberry & orange, and peach cobbler scones with our morning coffee. So good. And we... More

I absolutely adore The Scone Witch. My favourite scone is the lemon poppyseed scone, but they're all good. Unfortunately, they don't keep very well, so be sure to eat them up soon after purchase (within 24 hours).

Although I knew what a scone was, I never had the opportunity to actually have one. I guess that I considered myself a scone virgin. After spending several days in Ottawa, I stopped by to pickup 3 various types of scone sandwiches (I guess that's where the name comes from) along with two scones. The sconewitches were for my son,... More

Staying at the Lord Elgin, so wanted a breakfast away from hotel. Great find. Clean, fun atmosphere with great coffee. Going back tomorrow!

After touring England and eating a scone with tea every afternoon, I absolutely had to try this restaurant. My husband and I came after Sunday mass, and the place was empty at 1:30 pm. So it's a wise plan to either arrive early or late if you are having lunch. I was only here for the scones, and they were... More

The world is full of interesting urban coffee shops. They are everywhere and they are usually the same. The bearded dude, showing off his ear ring and horn rimmed glasses as he entices you to buy the kale muffins made by local muffin artisans. Arg! But not here. Sure the dud is there... but the food!!! Wow. This makes this... More

We got to the Sconewitch at 11:45, which was a good move. We found a table, which would have been impossible 15 minutes later. We also didn't have to wait long for our lunches. I had the chilled watermelon and mint soup and a scone with smoked turkey and Stilton. Very good indeed. My wife had a salad, which she... More
