I went to this restaurant alone and wasn't sure what to expect. The wait staff was VERY attentive and helpful. The food was very good and the value was excellent!

Many people I've asked where one can find good East Indian food have recommended this restaurant and now I know why. Ideally located close to the university crowds, it's a short ten minute walk the city core near the waterfront. There's a wide selection of many favourites to choose from; I had a Chicken Madras done to perfection. Just the... More

Our favorite place to eat Indian food in Kingston. Decor is ok and nice relaxed atmosphere. Service is always good and our toddler has always been accommodated. Love the darbar rice. Naan is good. Chicken Dansak is the best we have found. Decent value. Good meat cuts. Not flashy. Washrooms could benefit from a little spruce up.

People saying stuff like butter chicken " not authentic " must be crazy , its a western dish created for people who don't understand curry or indeed Indian food. Ok so the decor is a bit dated as are the circular windows, but the food was ok, nothing more than that , could have been spicier as with many other... More

It was our first time. Following the recommendations on Trip Advisor and Urban Spoon, we were looking forward to our evening of South Asia cusine. Opening the door we were greeting by the friendly matre'd and an amazing aroma of Indian spices. Promptly seated, provided menus and a plate of poppadum with side of pickled carrots. A nice touch making... More

I ordered papadum, butter chicken, naan and basmati rice, a very traditional and western choice, however, the best thing that I had was the papadum. The butter chicken was absolutely flavourless, and did not resemble any butter chicken I had ever had. The rice was over cooked and the naan was so burnt, you could not rip off a piece... More

OMG, thought it would be great, but, boy was I kidding myself. Very low light, you would think romantic, bit by the end of the meal, we were asking, what are they hiding? The food was mediocre, to say the least. Decor was old, a musty smell came at you, when you sat towards the back. Service could be better,... More

We are from Malaysia so I guess our standard is very high.....we visited Darbar twice over a six months period. Both time the food were just average. The place was nice and cosy and the service above average. However the dishes were just not authentic enough, but still the best in kingston so far. However the Kulfi ice cream was... More

The place itself is nice and basically okay...but that food! Even a "mild" dish is quite a challenge for a "westerner", but those flavors are just wonderful, so rich and exotic. I have already tried four dishes, and will continue exploring. Just bring lots of of napkins to manage that spice :-P

So we know these guys are useless at take out. Thus we ordered our 6pm meal at 4 30. For a 5 30 pickup! Predictably they had done nothing when we got there. We got home and they had forgotten the rice and bread. They promised a ten minute delivery to our house at 5 50. At 7pm we decided... More
