A small group of us went to the Peasant Cookery for a late afternoon meal - inconveniently between typical lunch and dinner times. Despite not having made reservations, the friendly staff accommodated us into the dining room and offered an amazing meal for very reasonable prices! The service was wonderful and the atmosphere of the restaurant offered a suave and... More

Decided to try this restaurant since it had many excellent reviews. SO disappointed with the food and service, wish I never would have gone since I feel so sick now after eating there :( Tonight's Monday night charcuterie plate special was absolutely disgusting. It was all putrid tasting meat, no cheeses or anything else that you normally might get on... More

I have been here on multiple occasions, most recently for a post Christmas get together.I have never had to wait for a table whether it was for 2 or 6 they will quickly accommodate you, I just call ahead. The servers have a lot of menu knowledge and are very good. The menu and food are just ok. Ive had multiple... More

I was so impressed with Peasant Cookery last night. Mistakes happen and it's unfair to expect every dining experience to be flawless. That said, the true test of a restaurant is how it handles a misstep when it happens. We had an early 5:45 reservation so we wouldn't feel rushed before the Sam Roberts Band concert at 8 PM. I... Showed up late on a Friday night, got a table for four people without too much waiting. Food was delicious. Stand outs were Tourtiere and Lamb Stew. Service was a delight also. Main floor from old downtown building with tall ceilings and separate bar. Also served signature bourbon cocktail. Recommended.

The atmosphere, food, and service were all excellent. I ordered the pulled pork and it was one of the best pulled porks I've had. The sauce was full of complex flavours, mildly spicy, and generously portioned. It's clearly a homemade sauce, cooked with the meat. The pre-meal baguette slices were freshly baked at a local bakery and were a nice... More

While we enjoyed the ambience of the wonderful location for a girls lunch on a cold Winnipeg winter day, the food unfortunately left us all underwhelmed. The salad was expensive for basically just a few greens and flavourless dressing. We likely will not be back.

This place is not horrible and if you have limited options, is probably worth a try. I think my issue with it is that it seems to me to be trying to be upscale without hitting the mark. The prices are up there but the food was just ok. Also, it was "Buck a Shuck" night as oysters on the... More

Met a couple of buddies for pints and lunch, the meals were very good, three guys three different meals, one peasant burger, one steak sandwich, one pulled pork. All three of us were very satisfied with our meals and all plan on returning. The steak sandwich was the winner with the pulled pork the lowest only because the bun needs... More

I am never disappointed when I come here, which is why I chose this as my first place to review on TripAdvisor. From the service to the food, I always leave satisfied. One of my favourite things about this restaurant is how despite the fact the dishes are always interesting and delicious, a lot of it still reminds me of... More
