Two nights earlier we had visited another "Bistro" in Whistler and were turned off by its pricing, average food and austentacious atmosphere. Alta Bistro is none of these. Quant with a warm feel, we felt comfortable when we came in the door. The staff is wonderful and the food is fantastic. Very much French bistro but so yummy after a... More

The elk tartar was served in a bowl with so many layers of flavour, so yummy! Rillet tempura roll was interesting and tasty. Deli board was a definite home run! The special of the night was a pork jowl and it was excellent. Good wine selection, very good service in a quaint unpretentious room. Pricey as is Whistler in general,... More

Hip and intimate Alta Bistro sources from local area farmers and ranches. The menu here is small but everything we ordered was well prepared with great flavours and excellent service. A well curated drinks menu features local artisan beers and biodynamic wines, largely French :). A top notch gastro-bistro mountain experience.

Decided to try it again 5 years later. Went when it first opened but it continues to get rave reviews. This time was equally unimpressive. Cost $175 for 2-1 appetizer, 2 entrees and a bottle of wine. The elk tartar parfait was unremarkable. The salmon and bison fillets were bland. Will not try it again.

My boyfriend and I were staying at the Pinnacle Hotel that is next to the Alta Bistro. We booked to go here on our last night. The menu is quite small and probably not very good if you're picky with food. But, for us the meal was the perfect way to try a different range of things. To start my... More

Interesting menu, my wife had Elk Tartar, I had a sturgeon tempura roll and we shared an amazing pork shank ($89). Staff were very friendly and worked super hard, the Matitre'D served and cleared tables. Food was a little slow in coming but it's a really interesting menu but less so for kids. Fish and chips was actually Salmon with... More

Family of three seated at a table for two that was placed up against a wall. All other tables of the size had only two guests. Forced one person to stare into a wall less than 36 inches away. Daughter ordered Sprite. When it arrived, it was not Sprite but a lemon/lime soda drink made at the bar. It was... More

In our opinion, this is the best restaurant in Whistler. During our 2-week skiing trip we also visited the higher-ranking restaurants (on Tripadvisor), but none was able to top our experience at Alta Bistro. Cozy and relaxed ambience but excellent food, great wine options, friendly and very professional staff. This will be our first stop next time we visit Whistler.

This is one of the very best restaurants in Whistler. The menu is spectacular as is the wine list. Be adventurous here. Their use of spices is so intricate you can't always tell what they've done in the prep. The bread is only served if you order it from the menu (not included). Order it! Deelishhhuussss!!! Can't find a bad... More

Locally inspired cuisine set in a casual bistro atmosphere. Chef Nicholas Cassettari combines his classic training, top tier experience, and world travels with the best of B.C.'S bounty to create the fine flavours at Alta Bistro. Service is casual and prompt in the dining room and bar. The wine list is French focused, with the best of B.C. As well as international selections (many by the glass) with Enomatic machines dispensing fine and eclectic selections to pair with Alta's cuisine. Mixologists behind our bar craft some of Whistler's finest cocktails. The cozy bistro atmosphere is lively and welcoming. Reservations are a must.
