We are residents, and stop by at this hidden gem whenever the opportunity presents itself. Everything is positive, price, service, experience, and of course the quality and choice of the food. Remember to bring your Driver's License and Vac Cert and see some history on...your way.More

Reservations are essential and security includes going through a metal detector. We tried to get in without a reservation but security said no. Phoned restaurant from outside and made our reservation, 10 minutes later we sat down for lunch in a higher end white table...cloth dining room. Prices are probably the cheapest in the harbour area and the food and service was excellent. Definitely a hidden gemMore

This was a great find for an excellent unhurried breakfast. It felt as if we had entered a time-warp but that was the fun of it. Worth investigating.

We took my sister in law along. She lives in Victoria and did not know the place existed. The premise were clean and the staff were very good. Compared to the rest of the city the prices were extremely reasonable. The food was very good...to outstanding. My sister in law got a fish burger which she says was very tasty but lacked the wow factor. My wife had a vegetarian dish which she say was very nice indeed. I had a steak and at $16 would happily have sat down to another one if the ladies had permitted it.( Our friend Billy had a steak house and did the best T bones and Rib eyes on the whole planet. ) This place does the best braised steak . It was superb. We followed up with deserts which were very nice , except for my wife who had Lemon Meringue pie and would happily have had another if we had allowed it. She says it was delicious. Light and Tangy. ( I wouldn't know I don't like lemon meringue) As with every eating establishment you take your chance as to what chef and what menu is on when you get there. On our experience I would happily eat at this eatery any lunch time I could until I had sampled the whole menu.More

Upon hearing from word of mouth about this dining room we reserved lunch after taking a legislative building tour. Surprised at the security required upon arrival with your id being kept until you leave the restaurant, but was ok. Service was very polished and professional...and the ambience included white linens. We had two specials of the day: cod amandine with roasted veggies and pork loin sandwich with aioli, also with veggies. We started the lunch with minestrone soup. After the meal the server arrived with a board containing six desserts so it was hard to resist..we settled on chocolate torte and were not disappointed. Tea was served in a beautiful china teapot. Will definitely return next time we are in Victoria. Prices were very reasonable for the quality of the food.More

Quiet place to enjoy lunch. White table cloths and friendly service. Had the daily special that was a light, fresh salad that had prawns, grapefruit, red onion and feta cheese over greens. Prices are reasonable.

We ate here as it is was one of the top places to eat. I had the Tuscan Chicken Burger. It was an ok burger but would have been better if served on better bread than just your run of the mill hamburger bun. The...prices are reasonable compared to other establishments and service was just ok.More

A broad menu, decent food (not spectacular though) and good service in a clean but very dated atmosphere. To save you searching, the entrance is difficult to find and is located right next to the front steps of the Legislature Building. After going through security...and given a pass to wear, you meander through underground passageways (pictured) to find the small dining room way in back. The average age of clientele seems to be about 80. Glad we experienced it once but will likely return to the Bard and Banker instead for a bit hipper atmosphere. Note: we’re in our early 60’s.More

While in Victoria we discovered the Parliamentary Dining Room. Yes, that's what it is called and comes with monogrammed china and white table cloths - a treat for breakfast! I questioned the name as we thought there was only one Parliament- in Ottawa- but the...restaurant is in the basement of the legislative buildings known as the Parliament Buildings. We ate breakfast there for three days while in Victoria. The food was excellent as was the service, and was excellent value.More
