Make reservations before going because the capacity is pretty small and the volume of patrons are large. Order a lot of different skewers that they fresh grill on the spot, and also Izakaya type dishes. All the dishes are well prepared and you can tell that care has been put into making everything. The rice with tontoro was a great... More

Their food used to be good and fresh. However, the last couple times I went there, food tends to be over-salted. They used to have a risotto that I like a lot, which is no longer on the menu However, other foods are still in good quality, given the price they are charging. Service is good, with many friendly Japanese... More

This is a small Japanese restaurant with very limited seating and almost no ambience. However, the food is amazing, if you pick the right dishes. We ordered 36 skewers (nine different types and ended up ordering more. It is not because of the small size of skewers, they were just so delicious. The service is great and demonstrates personalized attention.

I've been to a few Yakitori places with the kids when living in Asia and this one in Vancouver rates as the best (and most fun) so far. Great food (chicken Yakitori was the hit of the night) and atmosphere although some may find it a touch loud and the music too poppy. We loved it. Noodles also very tasty... More

Love the food here. Charcoal grill so yummy. Always full so make reservations if possible. It's not a big place. They only let you sit for 1.5 or 2 hrs, which is ok but a bit annoying. Portions very small, like 1 or 2 sticks per serving so prices add up. Was my 3rd trip there (or another of their... More

Portions are really small and the bill adds up quickly if you don't watch it. Better to go to Kingyo a couple of blocks south is better.

This restaurant is a fantastic place to eat, with a delightfully fun atmosphere. The grilled meats are delicious & the cucumber salad was so good I ordered a second one. As you state your order your waiter yells the order to the cooks, & they yell back so your order is placed immediately. I can't imagine visiting Vancouver, BC without... More

We had the zakkushi set which was awesome. Great flavours, tender meat. the vegetable set was very flavourful as well. We had the grilled rice balls, but did not enjoy these as much. The atmosphere was great and the service was quick. We will definitely go again when we're next in Vancouver.

All the grilled items are so yummy. They offer a variety plate that's best value and gives you opportunity to sample various grilled meats. Get the grilled rice ball...so yummy. Place is small and gets crowded during peak time. Try it and be transported to Japan for an experience like no other.

Staying in West End

Neighbourhood Profile
West End
A hodgepodge of landscapes, the West End combines verdant gardens and blocky modern architecture, with Victorian bits and Edwardian bobs in between. It is a paradise for takeout food, take-away coffee, and perhaps incongruously, some of Vancouver's most languid lines of beachfront. English Bay and Sunset Beach invite swimmers, strollers, and picnic-lovers to take in dusk settling over the water, or to jog along with the sunrise, offering breathtaking views at any time of day. The West End merges together so many looks and flavors probably because it functions a hub: its the leafy pit-stop between nightlife and entertainment venues along Davie Street, and the shopping paradise that is Robson Street, offering visitors beautiful parkland to rest on, and quick, easy food to re-fuel with in between ventures.
