We had the best time eating here! The wait staff was patient and explained everything to us so we understood what we were doing. The steak, shrimp, chicken, mushrooms, and sweet potatoes were all excellent. I loved the s'mores for dessert as well! Definitely a fun place to visit for dinner. We will go back!

We went to Guu as a party of 6, the place is really popular and busy so if you go during rush hour, be prepared to wait a bit. The food is totally worth the wait. It's fresh and tapas style so there is lots to try and eat. I absolutely love their Okonomiyaki.

Six of us including 2 young children came for an early dinner, allowing us to sample a variety of small "tapas" sized plates of Japanese bar chow. Seating's a little crowded, service efficient, and food, a very well deserved 24/30 Zagat rating. Must try include the following: grilled unagi (eel) with gratin of mushroom and rice - kids loved this... More

Yummy sushi! We received a raucous welcome & sat down to some tasty eats. I can't remember everything we had but I know we had miso soup, a sashimi sampler, breaded cauliflower, edamame, something with a lot of avocado & tasty desserts (mochi w/red bean filling served w/ice cream and a really interesting sake sea salt ice cream). Overall, this... More

Guu is one of my all time favourite restaurants in Vancouver...and every local takes visitors here FOR SURE. There are a few locations and each has its own menu...so you could actually just hop from one location to another on different nights. My favourite is the Guu on Water Street...it's a bit bigger so not as quaint as teh other... More

no way you can forget this restaurant, the greeting when you cross the door to get in or out is very funny, because whatever they are saying loudly at unison sounds very friendly and young. The menu was very hard, but the waiters are always willing to help and smile for you to get what you need. (online they have... More

Excellent food! What more can you say? Even took my toddler and baby there and they loved it! So many new taste experiences. Reasonable prices.

We live close to this restaurant and it is a favourite haunt. The greeting and goodbye when you come and go is hilarious. I have found that their menu recently has changed. We asked for some items that had previously been listed on the menu and were no longer. They were happy to make the dishes (e.g. fried rice). The... More

Japanese food like I've never had before. The place is a total experience. Picture John Belushi shouting Cheeseburger No Coke Pepsi but in Japanese and you can't understand a thing. The food was terrific. Interesting. Check menu online because the printed one doesn't have everything but you can order it anyway. For example, someone told us to order Kimchee rice... More

Went here with a friend. He had been there before and I trusted him to pick out some dishes that he would think I'd like. I'm not a big fan of deep fried foods but everything was quite tasty! Had some things I probably wouldn't have ever ordered alone (octopus) but it was a fun experience and great to try... More

Staying in West End

Neighbourhood Profile
West End
A hodgepodge of landscapes, the West End combines verdant gardens and blocky modern architecture, with Victorian bits and Edwardian bobs in between. It is a paradise for takeout food, take-away coffee, and perhaps incongruously, some of Vancouver's most languid lines of beachfront. English Bay and Sunset Beach invite swimmers, strollers, and picnic-lovers to take in dusk settling over the water, or to jog along with the sunrise, offering breathtaking views at any time of day. The West End merges together so many looks and flavors probably because it functions a hub: its the leafy pit-stop between nightlife and entertainment venues along Davie Street, and the shopping paradise that is Robson Street, offering visitors beautiful parkland to rest on, and quick, easy food to re-fuel with in between ventures.
