I used to LOVE this place, now under new ownership and they have a lot to learn. I suspect they lost their original chef. Menu is drastically cut and what few items are left are very hit-and-miss. Wait staff did their best but couldn't keep up and it wasn't that busy. Patio got more attention than inside restaurant. Menu will... More

By accident, we wandered by the Adesso Bistro on Haro Street. In a very quaint Vancouver neighbourhood, close to Stanley Park - this is a real treat. Over 30 years ago it was the original location of Delilah’s - Vancouver’s original Martini Bar and fabulously fun dinner club. Under the current management is destined to be a hot ticket again.... We had been a fan of the Ligurian bistro since it opened, and loved the menu, the staff, and of course, the patio dining in summer evenings. Unfortunately, Adesso is now a pasta and pizza place, with completely new staff, obliging but not too experienced, and the menu very basic. Game hen and cod were okay, but the rest of... More

If you want to spend $$$, the servers will help you with professionalism. Oh! You need to be Caucasian to be serviced better versus Asian or any other ethnicities. Their serverS' (yes, plural here) attitudes completely changed when they saw my Caucasian husband. If you have groupon or any discount coupons, the servers attitudes dramatically changes that they assume you... More

We were staying at the Sylvia Hotel, and wanted a nice place for dinner, within walking distance of the hotel. Staff at the front desk suggested this place. No view, but good food, and not too far of a walk. It was a Saturday night, so we thought we better make a reservation. Couldn't get through on the phone though,... More

Go eat here. Good food, good wine, and warm service. Just what you expect from this hidden gem. Try the panna cotta!

I had a bad experience with one of the servers (who apparently was the owner's brother) he was rude and unapologetic. I've been to this restaurant twice before and absolutely loved the food. Too bad this experience ruined my impression of it. This may be a one off and it's unfortunate as other staff were amazing, but I will not... More

We really loved this bistro. The food was all very good - we four each had different entres and shared 2 interesting appetizers. We thought the prices were very reasonable and the service excellent. Very efficient, professional waiters wearing black aprons. We enjoyed our dinner and conversations without feeling rushed. It was a perfect "local" type restaurant very much like... More

Staying in West End

Neighbourhood Profile
West End
A hodgepodge of landscapes, the West End combines verdant gardens and blocky modern architecture, with Victorian bits and Edwardian bobs in between. It is a paradise for takeout food, take-away coffee, and perhaps incongruously, some of Vancouver's most languid lines of beachfront. English Bay and Sunset Beach invite swimmers, strollers, and picnic-lovers to take in dusk settling over the water, or to jog along with the sunrise, offering breathtaking views at any time of day. The West End merges together so many looks and flavors probably because it functions a hub: its the leafy pit-stop between nightlife and entertainment venues along Davie Street, and the shopping paradise that is Robson Street, offering visitors beautiful parkland to rest on, and quick, easy food to re-fuel with in between ventures.
