A family get together and I had high hopes as its reputation had preceded my entry into the spacious restaurant. As a result I tried the waffles. Big disappointment as the two were basically cold and chewy that even the fine dusting of powdered sugar...More

We enjoyed a wonderful dinner at Chambar, with excellent service, food and wine. The wine we first ordered was out of stock, so our server sent over one of the wine team to recommend an alternative. It was spot on. Our meals were well served...More

We went intending to sample the desserts they had available that night. The server managed to get the pastry chef to customize a dessert plate of the chocolate mouse, the coconut panna cotta and the fudge bar. The restaurant was filling up late on Sunday...More

I've now been back to Chambar several time and have always had an excellent experience, food, wine and service. Love the old gastown brick building and atmosphere.

Large, airy space; fun bar. We went for a weekend brunch, and the place was packed with families. Very kid friendly. Everyone loves the waffles. Friendly and competent service. Lovely place.

Amazing experience, lives up to the hype. Food was good, service was even better. Yes, prices are high, but you get what you pay for in terms of the experience. Decor was not what I originally expected - not a complaint, just surprised. Very nice....More

Chambar was once hands-down the best restaurant in the city, and stayed that way for many years. However, our last few visits have been disappointing to say the least. Our recent dinner started well, with carefully crafted cocktails and some nice nibbles- try the crudités,...More

I have never been to Chambar for anything other than brunch, but I keep going back time after time because I have yet to find anywhere that can satisfy my cravings for savory and sweet breakfast fare, and especially not with such fantastic service. I...More

Great service, great ambiance, good food. Chambar never disappoints. We ordered the mussels au vin, the octopus appetizer and were already wow-ed by the many layers of flavours in these appies. For entrees we ordered the lamb tagine and fried brussel sprouts on the side....More

A visit to Gastown is like turning back the clock and
stepping into a bygone era. With the distinction of
being Vancouver's oldest neighborhood, the many
plaques that stud the cobbled streets of Gastown tell
the story of its colorful past, giving Vancouver's
history a more lively presence here than anywhere
else. Having been originally founded around a popular
worker's saloon, it's no wonder that today some of

There is no formal dress code however they work their butt off in putting quality food in the plate and offer professional service so my philosophy is to not 'underdress". I had a suit no tie.

I had my birthday brunch there with my family, including a Celiac diner. The gluten free bread was unlike anything she had ever had. I'd love to get her the recipe (or if it is not based in house, the name of the bakery it is from).

We make our bread fresh daily inhouse, if you can let me know the date you were in, and describe what you had and I'll see if I can get you a recipe. The starter is 40 years old and not something we can share.
