The food was awesome, and being Dine-Out incredible value for money too 😋 Great service, really great gin martini's and those amazing Congolese muscles!!! Who needs more? Well, the Vancouver Opera presentation of Macbeth by Third World Bunfight completed a superb evening out in our fantastic city.

My wife and I tried Chambar on a recent Saturday evening, and have both good and bad to report, mostly good: 1. The food is excellent! I started with the sardine and my wife with the crudités and we were both happy with our choices. We had different moules, one cocotte and one congolaise, and decided that both were good,... More

Went before a Canucks game on a Friday night so the place was hopping. Unfortunately, that's not a good thing. The walls are brick, so there is nothing to dampen the sound and it is very loud. Ordered the arctic char, which arrived in five minutes, so it is at least partially precooked. They made a bit of a production... More

The most memorable aspect of this restaurant was the loud, percussive, repetitive and intrusive music played all night. It was irritating, non-melodic and annoying. I had mussels which were very good, my wife's brochette was nice though not as rare as she was hoping it would be. Our friends' both had the lamb which was too spicy for their tastes... More

We went to Chambar with some friends ahead of a Canucks game on a Friday night. Once I made the online booking they texted me to ask if we were attending the game so they could plan to get us out in time. I thought that was fantastic. The service is some of the best I have had. All the... More

This was our second time to this restaurant, the first having been some 4 years ago on our last visit to Vancouver. We went out of our way to enjoy dinner here, although our children (12, 10 and 6 years) did not enjoy the experience as much as we did. The wine (and beer) list is superb and the frog... More

Took my two daughter-in-laws for Brunch. Pretty brick building....Glad we made reservations! Definitely a MUST! Front desk was array not very personable. Request to be seated in the back-more personable and less noisy and away from the front door. Our waiter made up for the customer service. He was on point with our champagne. Their cocktail list is huge! Tried... More

We consider ourselves "foodies" and have eaten in some very grand International restaurants, Michelin starred restaurants, the current most go to restaurants, etc., etc., and this restaurant is tops: the food, drinks and service, terrific. We were a party of 7 and all of us thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Looking forward to a return visit when we are next in... More

Probably our favorite spot during our short trip to Vancouver. And, if I'm being honest, I need to tell you that we hadn't even planned on dining here. Our morning started with a 5 mile run in the cold and rain, and following a defrost and clean-up back at the hotel, we decided a hearty brunch was just the thing.... More

We came back to see what the breakfast menu had to offer during the Christmas rush. Walked in with no reservations and got a nice table, however we were told that we were on the clock & had to leave by 12:30 (ok with that). We both went with the vegetarian omelete and side order of potato plus a tasty... More

Staying in Gastown

Neighbourhood Profile
A visit to Gastown is like turning back the clock and stepping into a bygone era. With the distinction of being Vancouver's oldest neighborhood, the many plaques that stud the cobbled streets of Gastown tell the story of its colorful past, giving Vancouver's history a more lively presence here than anywhere else. Having been originally founded around a popular worker's saloon, it's no wonder that today some of Vancouver's best micro-breweries, creative cocktail joints, and corner bars can be found in this area. Classical charm suffuses its many vintage boutiques and the brick-built structures that an army of creative professionals call home.
