Our visit was prompted by a desire for traditional bistro fare - escargot, steak and frites, cassoulet, and such. Bistro Pastis did not disappoint. Our meals were excellent from beginning to end, as was the service and atmosphere of the establishment.

My sweetie and I enjoyed a lovely brunch at this small but classy-cute eatery in Kits. It was our first visit, we were enticed by a brunch Groupon for two discounted meals. The restaurant was full on a Sunday at 1pm. The coffee was excellent and the Eggs Benedict were divine. The service had room for improvement, but was still... More

We were having a nice experience until my wife's dinner arrived. The Halibut she ordered had bacon in it. We don't eat bacon, the cook and server should have know this as the Appy we ordered had bacon and we requested to have it removed. Secondly the description in the menu did not include bacon. Thirdly, I ended up eating... More

Hello, I am sorry that you evening was not enjoyable and that there was a misunderstanding about the Halibut. The server should have reminded you that there was bacon with the Halibut. Stefen More

No one is thrilled to hear one of your favorite restaurants has been sold. (I can think of a few I wish would sell ...) So when Bistro changed hands this year we were concerned. Now after a few visits (brunch - lunch - dinner) we're relieved to see the high quality of food, excellent service and sane wine list... More

The ownership changed around the end of 2016 as Jean (John) said goodbye to his beautiful restaurant. The new owners have kept up the high standards. The food is delicious, great service and wonderful ambience. We were delighted with our waiter Ben who was so good. Bravi Pastis!

Back in 2013, we first visited Bistro Pastis during their Dine Out Vancouver event and I’ve been meaning to come back for a revisit ever since. We finally got our chance back in December when we stopped by for lunch. First on the table was some complimentary, freshly baked, crusty bread. Now, you can’t go to a French bistro without... More

We haven't been to this restaurant for more than 5 years. It was Okay before. Recently, we heard a lot of good reviews and learnt that the restaurant is under new management. So we take the plunge and go to give it a try. It turns out amazing, there was no dish we didn't like, all the way to dessert!... More

Been living in Vancouver for 20 years but have never heard of this restaurant until I saw a deal on Travelzoo, so I decided to try it out. Food was surprisingly good. Bread is freshly baked - Crunchy on the outside, hot and soft inside. Appetizer garlic prawns tastes good but isn't very special. Beef bourguinon was very flavorful and... More

The food was up to it's usual high standard, but the service was dreadful. We waited at least 40 minutes after the plates were removed from the first course before the 2nd course appeared. Meanwhile other diners at the tables around us, who had in in fact arrived after us, received their meals well before we did. Finally when I... More

Staying in Kitsilano

Neighbourhood Profile
Kitsilano
Kitsilano is one of Vancouver's most transformative neighbourhoods. With a long history of coffee culture and poetry readings, its days of flower children and buskers may be long-gone, but not without leaving their mark on the number of organic restaurants and fair-trade cafes in the area. At the centre of Kitsilano ("Kits" for short) the almost idyllic expanse of Kits Beach offers the opportunity for a relaxed afternoon of beach volleyball or sunbathing. Along with the beachfront, nearby public pools and trendy street-beats have driven up the homeowners prices, making it a haven for stylish home goods stores, from design and furniture, to supplies and appliances. The multitude of both families and public spaces also make it a happening neighbourhood in the summer, when festivals and fairs take to Kits' streets.
