My wife and I try to visit Five Sails at least once per year. The food is always great, and you can't beat the location. I do find it a little pricey, so we only go on special occasions....be sure to try the caramalized scallops, yum :)

A wonderful way to spend a beautiful Vancouver evening enjoying sunset on the outside patio. An eagle flew right over us as we finished our dinner. Wonderful place to take out of town guests.

We went here for my birthday for dinner. I am pregnant and the hostess wrote it down for he kitchen staff so I wouldn't receive anything raw. First they brought us sushi (for my husband) and I had sautéed mushroom. It was good and was an "extra". We had halibut and the smoked duck, both were delicious. Mainly protein for... More

We enjoyed a truly exceptional and memorable dinner with a spectacular harbor view. From the complementary amuse bouche (melt in your mouth fresh tuna) every minute of the meal was extraordinary. I started with the beet and goat cheese salad, my wife the lobster bisque, Both were excellent. My entree was entitled "Catch", which was a chef's choice of seafood... More

After dinner, my dining companions said that they didn't need a dishwasher because we licked our plates clean! That shows how much we enjoyed the food. It was a wonderful surprise. We were a party of 6 and celebrating a big birthday. This restaurant has been a staple on the Vancouver dining scene for many years. We have always meant... More

Arrived with high expectations. Without a doubt these are 5 Star views from the window tables. Service was at least excellent - perhaps even perfect... very gracious and attentive waitstaff. Both of us ordered the five course tasting menu with an upgrade to six courses with wine pairings. While the food was very good, the wine pairings were a disappointment...... More

This is an absolutely wonderful restaurant with its incredible view of Vancouver's beautiful harbor. We enjoyed some delicious food -- lobster bisque, ravioli, dover sole and fillet -- as well as champagne and wine. The service was top flight. Don't miss this one when you are in town!

A very good high end restaurant located in the Pan Pacific Hotel. The food and service was excellent. The scallops I had were so tender and soft – amazing! The restaurant has fantastic views of the bay.

Description
Dramatically situated on the waterfront pier at Canada Place, this AAA Four Diamond award winning fine dining restaurant offers a breathtaking natural backdrop of the inner harbor, Stanley Park and Coastal mountains with gracious hospitality in an understated elegant setting. Proprietors Chef Ernst Dorfler and Gerry Sayers, a husband and wife team, bring years of experience to Five Sails skillfully fusing modern, continental cuisine with European influences to cultivate a memorable dining experience. Showcasing the mastery that made Chef Dorfler an internationally acclaimed Culinary Olympic World Champion, his signature mountain raviolis stuffed with fine herbs, spinach and ricotta then finished with a drizzle of hazelnut butter harken back to his Austrian childhood. The innovative "Catch!", a veritable cornucopia of seafood is enrobed in a lemongrass sauce perfumed with coconut milk and hint of chili, displays world-class passion and artistry. Sommelier, Ramon Fresneda, always brings impressive knowledge and unpretentious flair in providing optimal wine pairings from a list consistently honoured with the Wine Spectator's Award of Excellence. The gracious service and exemplary dining combined with sweeping views of ships sailing off into the setting sun is an experience like none other.

Vancouver's business district, the Downtown area is bustling with smartly-dressed folks balancing their lattes and briefcases to and from work.
