This was recommended by the hotel concierge. We arrived early...so not a LOT of people there. No dimsum carts anymore...but ordering from the menu with pics was fine and no problem. Food came out quickly and was tasty. Staff was very friendly and checked in w/ us a few times. Nice portions! Overall, very satisfying!

This was our second visit to the Floata. It's a huge place! We went on a Sunday morning and unfortunately they no longer seem to do the carts for dim sum. Disappointing, as ordering from a menu just isn't the same. The portions and dumplings were huge. That can be OK but I personally felt it was a bit too... More

There was a time when Chinatown was bustling and busy and there was a dim sum tea house on every corner and all of them was packed. That was 40 years ago. Today, we came back to the same neighbourhood to see "For Lease" signs all over the place, empty stores, and very few restaurants. In fact, we had to... More

Drove from whistler and we were looking for a place that was open. Luckily we found this great restaurant. We arrived after 130pm and we were 10 in our party. Luckily they were still open and they accepted us. We ordered a variety of dimsum and everything we ordered was excellent! I frequent Hong Kong and I can say the... More

Great food, good service, and reasonably priced. Huge restaurant, with a nice atmosphere. Centrally located in Chinatown. Will return again soon.

The waiters were so busy scampering about, so I guess that's why we couldn't get prompt dim sum service. Half the restaurant was partitioned off for a private event... but the noise travelled through, and it sounded like a karaoke contest of squabbling ducks. The food was passable, but several of us in our group later complained of a msg... More

We love Chinatown in Vancouver and are avid dim sum eaters so on our recent weekend trip to the city we decided to ask around and see if there was a dim sum restaurant that we could have lunch at. We bought some steamer baskets at a small store in Chinatown and the shop owner sent us to Floata. We... More

If you've never experienced dim sum this is the place to try it. The variety is huge and delicious. The restaurant is extra huge. The menu can be a bit of a challenge but I recommend you go to Floata if not for anything else, for the experience! This is a HUGE dining room

Staying in Chinatown

Neighbourhood Profile
Chinatown
With the recent exodus of massive new building projects hitting the neighbourhood, Chinatown; which has always been one of the city's most vibrant areas; is even more buzzing and buoyant than ever before. Playing host to some of the city's best pan-Asian cuisine, from fusion food to traditional home-cooking, Chinatown has remained faithful to its roots as a space which clambers with shop signs and welcomes diners to the table. More that that, it has a hip experimental vibe to it, with trendy pop-ups and catchall market shops. The biggest of Canada's Chinatowns, it is also home to an expansive Chinese garden whose manicured grounds inspire and delight, its ponds and pagodas drawing walkers in for an stroll. Take in the red streetlights, the playful awnings, and the upbeat air that suffuse this area.
