This is likely 6th time I've been here on business dinner in last 6 months and it's been very consistent in high quality of food and service. Why deviate from a winning formula? The multi choice appetizer plate is always excellent with a small balanced mesclun salad, seared prawn and sashimi. One of my favourites. The aburi platter was again... More

Minami's specialty is their Salmon Oshi Bites which we tried and were very tasty except their special sauce (mayonaise like topping which is heated with a blow torch) overwhelmed the salmon flavor of the rest of the dish. The Nutrigreen Crumbled Tofu Salad was fresh, vibrant, flavorful, as well as plentiful. The Sablefish entree' is WONDERFUL and prepared extremely well.... More

Been to Minami a number of times now, and all my visits have been pretty pleasant. The staff is polite and can be attentive (lol - depends who your server is?), sometimes slow but it's understandable I guess when you go during their busy times. The atmosphere is great and changes as the night goes. I have yet to bring... More

Upscale Japanese restaurant with great atmosphere. Beautiful decor. Flame sushi and Yaletown roll are simply amazing. However, the triple pork dish was dry and salty. Pricy.

"By far the best sushi ever, anywhere". That was the quote from the people in out group. They are right. The atmosphere is upscale, the staff is very professional and knowledgable and the food exceptionally exquisite. The Minami Roll is out of this world and the Sashimi was perfect. So fresh, tender and not watery. Just go and explore the... More

Came here for a family holiday meal and very much enjoyed the creative house rolls and aburi (flame grilled) / pressed sushi. High quality offering w/ an appropriate (so not cheap) price point - absolutely worth it! The staff were attentive and friendly and the highlights were most definitely the sockeye salmon dishes (sashimi, sushi, salmon oshi sushi). Fresh /... More

I arrived during a torrential rain storm and was greet with a smile and an offer to store my coat, hat and umbrella before being led to my table which was ready.I had an assortment of tasting specialties, featuring their signature aburi, which was excellent. The service was superb! My green tea was kept full without being obtrusive. Staff was... More

My husband enjoys sushi and sashimi. He very much enjoyed the food at Minami. He said it was all excellent. I being the non sushi lover, very much enjoyed the short ribs. If you don't enjoy sushi be sure to check out the menu online before you go to ensure there is something on the menu that appeals to you.

Description
Established as the second location of the Aburi Brand in North America, Minami Restaurant offers a combination of Japanese and West Coast cuisine in a comfortable, rustic atmosphere. Minami presents the Aburi take on red meats and seafood dishes to enjoy with your choice of sake, wine, or specialty cocktail. From intimate gatherings with family and friends to professional corporate events, our welcoming atmosphere with amazing cuisine and impeccable service creates a lasting dining experience.

Aburi Sushi is a corporate symbol of our company, enjoyed by local Vancouverites and international travellers alike. Minami is excited to introduce the innovative concept of Aburi Sushi appetizers. This combination of our shari (sushi rice), cooked using a unique traditional method, and our flame searing technique has turned sushi into a truly exciting culinary experience. At Minami, Aburi sushi is best enjoyed as a zensai (appetizer) course and, paired perfectly alongside your favourite beverage, sets the stage for the rest of your Aburi dining experience.

Our entrée menu places an emphasis on our beef, poultry, and seafood cuisine. Our dedicated team of chefs perfects our entrées not only by focusing on the protein, but also by pairing it with fresh, seasonal vegetables in order to complement the rich flavour of the meat. We insist that a great entrée must be accompanied by an equally great side.

Minami is the sister restaurant of Miku Restaurant.

Staying in Yaletown & False Creek North

Neighbourhood Profile
Yaletown & False Creek North
Yaletown has risen from the ashes of its rough-and-tumble industrial past into one of Vancouver's new chicest neighbourhoods. The place responsible for originating of the phrase 'skid row' might not call to mind independently-owned boutiques and terraced cafes, but having swallowed the waterfront lines of False Creek North, the resulting amalgamation transformed the area into an elegant, stylish hotspot with a view. Its youthful vibe owes to the many young families and young professionals who live there, bolstering nightlife and restaurant variety along its cobbled streets. It is the flagship neighbourhood for modern revitalization, and the It-Spot for boutique hotels and modish eats.
