Had some Congee and Dim Sum. It was just ok. Small selection of dim sum but lots of great baked goods to pick from.

Second time here, and for a reason. The food is so full of flavor and done right. It was a little wait for the order to be taken, 10 min, but the staff was so busy with hot steamed buns that came out. Once we ordered it was 3-4 minutes wait for the food. Brisket Noodle Soup and Duck Noodle... More

Visited with party of four. Plan was to get dim sums / dumplings, but ended up having main courses and some dim sums on the side. They were just average, had pork and shrimp steamed dumplings, sticky rise with chicken and pineapple bun. Mains were duck soup, chicken curry and (shared) shrimp hot pot. Duck was OK, chicken tasted plain,... More

Good food at a reasonable price! Right in the middle of Chinatown. Friendly staff and prompt service... It is a good place to drop in to pick up some treats or sit down for a quick meal!

They may have great pork buns but avoid the dinner service at all cost. Service is rude and the food is no better than store bought Ramen I can make at home. They don't take non-Canadian credit cards as well. We were quite obviously rushed through a meal while the servers yelled at each other across the room. Whatever you... More

This place sells a wide range of baked buns, steamed buns, pies and yum cha type products. It's great for takeaways or eating in. All the food is great, very reasonable prices and well worth a visit if in Chinatown

Famous bakery in the heart of Chinatown. Coconut buns and the chicken buns are my favorite. The line up is worth the wait.

With all the publicity this place gets (Alex Burrows endorsements, foodie awards) I was expecting something amazing. Not so. Sure, the food is decent... we had sliced beef and rice noodle, and deep fried squid. But it's no better than many other restaurants in Vancouver. The service is so so... nonchalant waitresses that have no personality. The decor is clean... More

This is a great Chinese bakery it stands out in flavor and tastes. The restaurant is very good local and authentic food at a very low price. There are fancier restaurants with bigger menus but the flavors here are great and inexpensive!

The "New Town Bakery" is an authentic informal Chinese restaurant in the middle of Vancouver's Chinatown. it is very popular with the locals, which is a good sign. They offer lots of good choices for lunch - especially dim sum. It is not expensive but cash only.

Staying in Chinatown

Neighbourhood Profile
Chinatown
With the recent exodus of massive new building projects hitting the neighbourhood, Chinatown; which has always been one of the city's most vibrant areas; is even more buzzing and buoyant than ever before. Playing host to some of the city's best pan-Asian cuisine, from fusion food to traditional home-cooking, Chinatown has remained faithful to its roots as a space which clambers with shop signs and welcomes diners to the table. More that that, it has a hip experimental vibe to it, with trendy pop-ups and catchall market shops. The biggest of Canada's Chinatowns, it is also home to an expansive Chinese garden whose manicured grounds inspire and delight, its ponds and pagodas drawing walkers in for an stroll. Take in the red streetlights, the playful awnings, and the upbeat air that suffuse this area.
