Honestly, I would not have chosen the place for the neighborhood without recommendation and I would have missed a great experience. It is the kind of bar you find in magazines or travel guides with inside local knowledge. Not too big, with a selection of wines, spirits and cocktails some find only the the big and posh places. The live... More

Great cocktails! The bartenders at the Keefer seem excited about serving up tasty and complex cocktails. Some of these are not for the faint of heart -- these are serious mixologists. Plus, if you want to do some tweaking (I prefer lots of acidity), there's no attitude. The servers are cool: they want you to be happy. Plus, happy hour... More

I was here with a couple friends about a week ago. It was a little difficult for us to get a table so we ended up at the bar which was fine. The bar tenders are great at what they do and love to entertain. The snacks that we had were very good. I really enjoyed the specialty cocktail for... More

Keefer bar is not something you'd expect nestled in amongst the Ming Pao and Sing Tao Daily newspaper offices. It's cool little atmosphere with a drink menu that is impressive and can suit any desire. Their cocktail creations were hard to choose from because there were soo many. So had to try a few. Also tried the duck sliders which... More

Down the road from Bao Bei so went there for a post dinner cocktail. Amazing selection, delicious whisky sour. It's tight quarters for sure but they found us a table for 3 and we had a great evening sampling some pretty amazing and unusual cocktails. Would definitely go back.

My friends and I ended up getting into The Keefer Bar with a bit of help - otherwise it was quite a long wait. The kitchen ended up being closed by the time we got in which was disappointing. We all ordered drinks and they were really stiff drinks. If you like stiff drinks - I recommend it but if... More

The Keefer is such a gem, no matter how much time passes between visits I'm always pleasantly surprised. Nothing beats their apothecary-Asian-style interior. Everything has been thought out. The x-ray display in the bathroom is always fun for pictures ;). I also learned about their nightly specials upon this last visit, as the prices can add up. Loved their Tuesday... More

Had a drink there, but saw the tapas and heard comments that would cause me to return. Amber Bruce is your man to shake you a concoction you may have never had and won't forget. I had a martini that was like no other I have ever had. And this place is down the street from Bao Bei another prize.

Great cocktails, love their happy hour, the servers are great and have character. It's a great place to hideaway or meet with friends. The outdoor patio is a great feature and in the summer very popular. The Keefer Bar is located in Vancouver's historic Chinatown and is a special place.

The service is good, and they have special daily specials for a very reasonable price. However, the drinks we had were not doubles.

Staying in Chinatown

Neighbourhood Profile
Chinatown
With the recent exodus of massive new building projects hitting the neighbourhood, Chinatown; which has always been one of the city's most vibrant areas; is even more buzzing and buoyant than ever before. Playing host to some of the city's best pan-Asian cuisine, from fusion food to traditional home-cooking, Chinatown has remained faithful to its roots as a space which clambers with shop signs and welcomes diners to the table. More that that, it has a hip experimental vibe to it, with trendy pop-ups and catchall market shops. The biggest of Canada's Chinatowns, it is also home to an expansive Chinese garden whose manicured grounds inspire and delight, its ponds and pagodas drawing walkers in for an stroll. Take in the red streetlights, the playful awnings, and the upbeat air that suffuse this area.
